Default Hookah Smokers

Saw hookah mentioned in another thread and thought i would post up. Hookah smokers unite! Maybe we can get a smoke together sometime, i know im always up for a good smoke at the cafe.

Where did you get into the hobby? Whats you favorite spot in KC to hookah it up? What do you have at home? Favorite shisha flavors? Where do you buy your supples?

Personally i got into it on a trip to istanbul. Bought a 40" single hose and havent looked back. I liked shopping at texashookah.com cause it was close to me in waco and cheap, but i have bought from jerusalem cafe here.

My smoking tastes have changed over the years, loved starbuzz, but it got really expensive so i moved on to Al-Fakher. Love the stuff, significantly more buzz. Though still not cheap. Socially i smoke cheap stuff, mostly wherever i can find it on sale just to try. Love blue rasberry and mint. Apple is not bad either.

Post up!

I like mango and pink lemonade flavors.

I usually only like to smoke hookah at the house because I find that at some of the cafes that prepare the hookah for you wrap the foil at the top around the coals too tightly, causing the tobacco to burn too fast and get kinda harsh

Well I'm from Turkey, born in Ankara, lived most places, moved to US in 98 (New York).

So I guess it was meant to be lol, I have my own hookah at home, but have only been to Sinbads here in town. I just moved up here from Lincoln early January so I haven't been able to visit many others. I have too many flavours etc to keep a track of them, but personally I like minty stuff. The cool feeling in my throat is very soothing. Teehee.

Word. That's usually where I buy my tobacco.

I have a decent 20" hookah that I smoke at my place. I never go out to cafes anymore, I'd rather relax on my own couch. I'm pretty big on floral flavors, spicy flavors, or even chocolate/mocha. Anything that's really fruity and sweet gives me a headache after a while.

What I usually do though, is cut the top off an apple, hollow it out (leaving the walls roughly 3/4" thick) and poke some holes at the bottom of it, then dust the inside of the apple with sugar, fill with tobacco, cover with foil, and shove it on my hookah. Apple bowls are the fucking shiiitttt.

WHATTTT? That sounds really good. I might have to try this. Also have never tried "floral" flavors or chocolate. We might have to hang out soon.

i'll have to try that... i've been smoking starbuzz blue mist lately, i like it. I had some honey and some coconut that i really liked mixing with other flavors like orange or pineapple, i'm not too into the mints but i do like the blue mist, i generally stick to fruit/floral

Chocolate is pretty good, it mixes with a couple things well, I'm sure mint would be really good with it. Alone it isn't super awesome though IMHO.

Floral flavors are good, red rose and white rose are worth trying

BTW: To everyone trying an apple bowl, some things to note: Make sure you coat the inside with sugar or the tobacco will get too moist. Also, take the stem (I don't know what it's actually called) that the bowl sits on that screws onto the top of the hookah and push it into the bottom of the apple. This will give you a nice seal for the bowl. And also, it works really well if once you're finished carving and have the 'stem' in the apple to throw it in the freezer for a bit from my experience.

Fantasia brand is at Main Street Tobacco and has some of my favorite flavors, such as Pink Lemonade, Triple Apple and Wild Mango.

http://www.fantasiatobacco.com/

I'm sure other places do carry it as well, but I mostly have picked up Shisha from Main Street. Fantasia is just so flavorful and delicious.

I got some good news for KCSR members. I was going to post this earlier, but I wanted to get approval from the owners. You can find various sizes of hookahs, hoses, tobacco at:

India Emporium
10458 Metcalf Avenue
Overland Park, KS 66212
(913) 642 - 1161

I spoke to the owner and he has agreed to give all KCSR members 10% off your their total purchase of any hookahs/hookah products. Just ask for Mr. Nazir and mention that your a KCSR member and he will take care of you.

The store has a variety of different sized hookahs at a very affordable price. They carry the following Shish brands:
  • Al Fakher
  • Nakhla
  • Al Amir
  • Fusion (This is my favorite out of all of them. Its a little pricey, but you can smell the quality of the product.)

If there is a particular flavor that you like, let Mr. Nazir know and he will make sure to order it or keep it in stock for you. If you have any further questions, then please feel free to PM me.

Kick ass. I know someone who lives around the corner who needs to stock up on Shisha. Thanks!

I love smoking hookah, I had one that made the biggest thickest clouds of smoke... then it broke, and I got a little bastard one... and burnt like 15 holes in my carpet when a coal exploded... so I threw it all away.

Fusion is the shit.
Starbuzz is cool.

There is some called like Tangiers or something, that shit is real nice too.

Whats the best of the best in hookah world right now? I need to get back into it.

I have some friends that have them, its a very relaxing social activity.

usually just bring them a new tin of shisha or a box of coals once and a while

I get stuff at the J cafe on 43rd, don't really have a favorite brand.

I do like mixing flavors though.

gotta try :

peach+ apple

lemon+ mint

My back deck is my hookah lounge. My favorite flavor is Starbuzz Blue Mist. It starts with a nice berry sweetness that finishes with a soft mint.

I have a few Maya hookahs, a QT and Vortex.. with a Vortex bowl (amazing. If you haven't tried it, I highly recommend picking one up.)

I like Starbuzz Blue Mist, right now. Social Smoke also has some good flavors. I've also been on an Al Fakher Pomegranate/Watermelon/Mint mix that is really really good.

I only use Coca Nara coals at home (light them on the stove), or the Al Fakher quick light coals if I'm out of the Coca Nara.

The other Starbuzz flavors, I would not really recommend. But if you ever want to show somebody a hookah smoke for their first, the Starbuzz Blue Mist will rock them! It is great for new and experienced smokers!

Looks like I'll also have to pick up some Blue Mist from Main Street Tobacco.
