I don't think I've ever owned a V8 that wasn't at least 400rwhp within a few months of owning it.

The lt4 clique crack me up. Yes, it's a a stout motor. Sure I can see it being a drivers race against maybe the 98-00 fbodies, but to hear them, you'd think it was a goddam 405 hp lt5

No shit.

I got to know two guys that ran them in town during the late 90s/early '00's. One of them had a bottle and lied through his teeth about it, the other was a bolt-on LT4.

They were quite entertaining, and got to know the look of my taillights in two f-bodies and a '99 Cobra

Only 135hp/liter though. Total weak sauce by KCSR standards.

Nah, I think high hp/lt is actually most impressive with NA cars, like bmw's NA 5.0 lt v10 put out 507hp.
Where as amg needed 6.2 ltrs to achieve the same.
Viper makes 600 na horsepower, but needstill 8 liters to do so ??? Meh I R not impressed.

I mean, it's cool to see that technology, I guess.

I've said before, I gave zero fucks about displacement. If it's got big, reliable power with decent mpg, I don't care if it's 2 liters or 8.3, I'll take it.

But I don't give a shit when an s2k bro tells me he makes 120 hp/liter and my shitbox ls1 only makes 60 hp/liter. I'm still faster, just as reliable, and probably get better mpg.

Agreed. HP/liter is only relevant in the eyes of those that lose and use it as an excuse.

IDK I guess I'm kind of growing up and out of the whole "I'm faster than x" thing. There is always going to be a faster more capable car out there.

Example I was served just the other day, some 50 yo guy in his brand new s550 starts messing with me on the highway, so I down shift and mash it only to watch his leather lined, luxury chariot gently waft it's self ahead and walks me.

I'm in a bumpy, uncomfortable, loud, econobox with damn near 20k in "race car parts". And this guy just leaves me like nothing while sitting in an air conditioned seat, probably getting a massage too.
Oh and probably getting x2 my mpg because I was on corn.

Yeah, ouch.

Sure, but thats an apples to oranges comparison. Due to age, price, etc. I'm talking about a a Honda S2000 and a base c5, similar ages, both na, priced remotely close.

Well you are comparing Chevys flagship car to Hondas not flagship car? Flagship car NSX.

C5 vs 3.2l NSX ???? Both in a line and corners the NSX is faster, less displacement.

Those things were slow AF in a straight line.

It's also pretty irrelevant when you compare say the packaging of a Coyote vs. an LS3. 1.2 less liters and way wider physically.

Lol.

No.

Possibly the later 290 hp models could possibly take them in a track, but not in a straight line.

And if we're talking about the real Chevy flagship, the c5z, it'll fuckstart an nsx face, any way it wants it.

Looks like the ~98 or so NSX's were faster than I thought, 12.9-13.2 is what I'm seeing.

So, based on that, pretty much a drivers race between one and a C5 in a straight line probably.
