Default PNP switch help

I had a P1706 code on the frontier which indicates open circuit on PNP switch. I replaced the switch and reset the ECU and I haven't given it the total time needed to trip the CEL again, but when I scan for codes using my bluetooth obdII reader and torque pro app, I'm showing p1706 pending still.

testing the pnp for start/no start conditions it starts in park and neutral as expected, and also doesn't start in reverse or drive, as expected.

Now, I'm assuming based on those factors, the PNP switch is working right...and the relay is obviously no a problem or it wouldn't start at all.

So I'm a bit confused on why P1706 is still showing as a pending code. It had adjustment ability but having no idea where it needed to be adjusted it, it was just set in the center. Could being off adjustment still be triggering the pending code, or is there some sort of holding pattern for a code in the TCU that keeps sending to the ECU after a reset until the TCU is satisfied it's no longer an issue?

Is there a way through a true OBDII scan tool to see what the PNP is reading to ensure when in drive it's not bouncing back and forth between drive and neutral or something?

You should be able to see the indicated position of the PNP switch via serial data.

Is this one transmission mounted, or mounted on the shifter/column?

Transmission mounted but connected to the shifter column by cable. CEL just came on too, so it's still actively being tripped.

I'm using a BAFX bluetooth adapter and torque pro and the neutral position switch isn't an available PID by default, nor is it in the advanced ex nissan plugin.

I might be hosed here for troubleshooting this myself...but I'm not sure that's going to really tell me anything. Reading FSM, switch is only on in Park or Neutral, off in all others...and since it's off in Drive as I can't start it in drive...I can't imagine an adjustment problem. Wiring LOOKS fine from what I can see...but I wonder if there is some sort of ground issue or loose connector somewhere that's causing it to break continuity when driving.

Even though the relay is engaging, if there was a continuity problem, could the relay cause the CEL? It's listed as a troubleshooting step in the FSM for the code.

Possible, but hard to tell without a wiring diagram to see how all of the related circuits work.

Tested relay, continuity when 12v applied, no continuity when removed...seems to be fine.

Replaced the relay and drove around a bit, making sure to go over 40 as instructed. Several ignition start and stop events and so far no pending code...knock on wood I think the relay resolved it though I'm baffled as to how considering it tested fine.
