Default White Chevy Malibu (?) on Shawnee Mission Parkway last night

Was heading west off I-35 around 2am on Shawnee Mission Parkway in my m3 sedan when a rental car looking newer white Chevy started pacing me looking to run.

Curious if it was someone on here? Car was surprisingly quick but I couldn't tell from the headlights what it was. I'm assuming he thought he was picking on a stock e36 M3.

Probably a Chevy SS and not a Malibu

I doubt that. It would have to be an extremely modified E36 to keep up with a bone stock SS.

a stock e36 m3 vs the turbo malibu in a 1/4 mile race would probably have pretty similar ETs. Obviously a roll race on a highway would be much different than a dig race on a track, but depending on gearing up top, the two cars seem to be relatively similar.

e36 m3's are hard to make much faster without forced induction. intake and exhaust doesn't really impact the time. A tune will only give you a couple tenths of a second, etc.

It's very possible you raced a stock, turbo malibu. The e36 was a quick car in its day, but modern cars are just much quicker than they used to be.

I'm dumb! I missed the E36 portion of the post and just saw M3, so in my mind I was thinking of a newer one...

Shit, also didn't know the Malibu was turbo now.

The more you know...
