If I were ordering one, I'd likely order it identical to how you did.

Nice car for sure.

It is rather funny because I've watched how long used 2014/2015 manual M235's sit on the market. They last less than a week. The 8ATs sit for quite a while.

Baron openly admits that they don't sell many 228s and M235s and the ones they do sell tend to be higher option pre-ordered M235xi's. Since the pricing is so close, most people just go with a 435 because it's bigger. My 6MT is the first one they've ever seen and two salesmen asked how I found one without a moonroof. When I told them I ordered it that way, it was deer in headlights followed by "why?". My salesmen is a avid car guy and totally got why I ordered it the way I did. He didn't question a thing and didn't try and sell me on anything.

less weight, lower center of gravity, more structurally rigid. If you don't care about having a sunroof, no reason to get one because of the benefits not having one gives (to someone who is performance minded, at least).

Where are they built? If you feel like sharing, what's the MSRP?

Probably next year. Wheels are such a difficult choice. You need to get it right. I really wish my 18X8.5 Enkei Rajjins from my WRX fit this thing. They'd be perfect.

With that said, my 2012 WRX hatch has been completely returned to stock and will be going up for sale soon. One thing I learned from driving my stock WRX around in January was just how much some of the mods didn't improve things as much as I originally thought. Many of the mods were great and some I could have done without. I came to appreciate just how good some of the stock stuff was on the WRX and as a result, has made me rethink the things I'm planning for the M235.

The M235 will likely get the following:

- 35% tint
- M Performance rear diffuser
- 18X8" or 18X8.5" wheels with a bit more offset
- Black double spoke kidney grills
- Body colored front reflectors
- BMS black chrome slash cut exhaust tips
- P3 electronic vent gauge (currently using my Torque App)

- Maybe black side mirror covers
- Maybe a Stage 1 tune
- Maybe the Dinan Shockware suspension tune

They're built in Germany. The MSRP was $49,900, but I didn't pay near that. Since I was ordering, they weren't quite as willing to deal as they would have on their in stock cars. It's pricey for what it is, but since I'm a car guy, I figured I had to own at least one BMW in my life so why not get one of the best reviewed (and cheapest) ones in the past 20 years.

Weight in the worst possible place. About 2" more headroom (I'm tall) and 1" more headroom in the back. The fact that my last three cars had moonroofs and I rarely used them. That whole German long-term reliability thing.

It sounds like a solid list of mods. From what I hear, those cars are so damned good out of the box, it almost is an injustice to start modding them willy nilly, as you may end up with a worse end product.

Looking forward to seeing the mods you choose for this car, and how it evolves over time

I miss mine so much. I'm happy with where I ended up but still want a white with red m235i since it's my car but newer. Looks great.

Please for the love of cars do NOT do anything Dinan. The "it'll keep the warranty" is bullshit. They just cover it if bmw won't and they will try even harder to deny it than bmw will.

I had my stage 2 turbo full bolt on car smelling of ethanol when it pulled into the garage worked on there with no problem. They might try to dick with you but as soon as they realize you know what you are talking about and know that the mods you've done didn't cause the issue then you'll be fine.

JB4 with EWG wires, e30 and then do subtle looks mods like you mentioned.

Hop on here if you haven't already. Start reading. Lol

Nice, I bet the $2k deposit was for the moonroof delete. That's a unique request for that kind of car even for the performance minded folks.

I don't get the moonroof delete.

It's not like you're tracking the car.

I don't like moon roofs. Even if I'm not tracking. When I was looking, a moon roof was a deal breaker for me. Wind noise, leaks, failure, etc. They're just not appealing to some people, myself included.

I don't really use my moon roof and it would be super nice to have more headroom in my car considering I'm 6'4". I get it.

The car will get autox-ed on occasion, maybe even something more substantial later. With the moonroof shade pulled closed, I had about 1" between my hairline the shade/roof edge. With the moonroof delete, I have about 3". With a helmet and more upright driving position, my head won't be annoyingly bonking the roof.

I didn't use my moonroofs much in the past other than the vent the car on hot days while it sat. I never had any issues with any of the moonroofs in my previous cars other than some minor rattles and squeaks in colder weather.

In the end, the real driving force was more head room, less weight in the roof, and a more performance focused car kind of like many of the true M cars what don't come with moonroofs.

Do you have the seat down all the way?

I couldn't stand it being any higher than flat on the floor.

Agreed. The back of the bottom cushion is as low as she goes, the front is a bit up for the thighs.

Just another opinion for ya.

If you ever do anything with the exhaust I recommend an AR designs downpipe and nothing else.

There are some much cheaper options out there but after having it on for almost the entire life of the car it was the best sounding setup I heard. I never saw anyone else with it because most went with VRSF or BMS because they are cheaper options, however anytime I was around others they always complimented how amazing my exhaust sounded. Not tinny, no drone at all, not raspy. Just a great deep growl.

I had the 4" downpipe and stock everything else with the flap open. I also had a muffler delete axel back I swapped in when I wanted to be a little louder.

These cars can be perfect with very little mods if they are done right. Most don't spend the little extra for the better parts. It shows too after a while.

If I ever get a 2er it'll be a super simple setup.

Jb4 w/EWG wires on e30
AR downpipe with stock the rest of the way
ER charge pipe
Wagner FMIC
BMS intake and cowl delete

Would be a perfect and smooth 400whp daily driver.

I would prefer to not have one anytime I'm getting something, but I buy used stuff and can't just check the box, so I'll live with the one on my Jetta.
