I'm on 10 now. so far, only issue is ASUS DGX sound card doesn't have a W10 driver. Using audio through NVIDIA and my monitor.

Still playing, was able to do clean install via the following method:

Download ISO to USB via windows 10 link above

Update 8.1 to Windows 10 via the USB

Reboot to USB

Skip product key window

Perform Clean install

Skip Product key window when it reboots and gets into settings (do this twice)

Once you enter your windows logon, it's automatically updated.
will you just be using your 8.1 key or how does one go about registering?

There is no registering if you accepted the upgrade...attaches itself to your windows account.

I like this taskview deal... having multiple simultaneous desktop environments is gonna be so badass. Cortana voice commands are pretty cool too, just wish it didn't use bing lol

So the new Edge browser is kinda cool. Very barebones. Been trying it out for a little bit seeing how it handles memory and CPU usage.

Just installed fresh on my wife's old gateway laptop we got in like 2011...the initial upgrade from win 7 was unsuccessful due to system reserved partition being out of space. Followed some instructions to free it up but still couldn't get it to take via internet update. USB ISO worked like a charm though, and then installed clean with zero problems.

Runs great, probably been one of MS's better initial launches.

My only gripe so far is that I can't get my computer to go to sleep anymore. It's kind of annoying. I'm sure something will come out soon though.

How can you blow $750 on a monitor but can't pay for a freaking OS?

I've never paid for an OS in my entire life, why start now?

Good thing I don't need to justify my actions to you. My financials aren't really of your concern either.

If anyone uses Cisco Remote Access VPN for work, here is a fix for getting it to work under Windows 10

Finally got 10 installed on 2 of my machines, everything was stupid simple and I feel like some of my most demanding games run better than ever.

Only one issue so far, testing out some older games for an upcoming LAN party - looks like something with DX12 doesn't play nice with older directx games.

my 780ti WILL NOT overclock at all with windows 10 and current drivers.

I hope my 980ti gets back soon.

I believe it just comes down to if your copy is Activated and M$ considers it Genuine. Lots of pirated copies meet those criteria.

I just finished the in place upgrade on my laptop, a Dell Latitude E5500 with an Intel SSD, coming from Win 7 Pro. No issues.

I did have a problem with my desktop, though. It passed the initial hardware check and allowed me to make a reservation. But when I tried to kick off the upgrade yesterday it said my ancient Nvidia card was not compatible.

I still haven't decided if I should move to 10 or not.

For those of you who installed 10 from windows 7, what are your thoughts?

I upgraded last night. The automatic update kept failing so I had to download the little tool thing to get it going.

Very smooth process and I just did an upgrade. So far I'm liking it, not much different than what I had my 8.1 customized and setup as though. I haven't tried any games yet. All my drivers transferred flawlessly except nVidia which I had a bitch getting installed for some reason.

I think this is the only time in my life I've done an upgrade instead of a fresh format.

Ditto on everything.

In regards to the Nvidia driver: I tried updating but it failed so I said F-it and restarted my PC. The problem fixed it self after that...

BTW, is the Cortana assistant supposed to be able to talk out loud? I get the feeling it's supposed to but mine is mute...

*Edit*

She apparently only speaks when you use your mic. Lame.

Super easy download... but my internet seems to load everything very slowly... hoping it subsides.

Same thing happened to me. Said the same thing, did a reboot and it was just there. Installed and working flawlessly.. Lol.
