You are obviously backing off of your months to a year smack talk.

Maybe you should just shut the fuck up, log off, and let those that know what they are talking about continue to post.
You're still not comprehending what I said.

If I missed it, please link me to the LS1 that made that power within your timeframe.

My god this is a nasty ugly thread.

I will say though, it's not an apples to apples comparison like anyone is trying to make it out to be.

The LS1 was released in a time when turbo's were nearly unheard of, let alone came with from the factory.

A more realistic comparison would be, what kind of power was a GT500 making shortly after release? A terminator even? At least both of those had a factory power adder similar to the bimmer's.

I guarantee Terminators and GT500's were doubling their stock HP numbers in a much shorter time frame than N54's and N55's.

Not taking anything away from FOACAD's bimmer or anyones for that matter. They're impressive machines. But, they are engineered in a much more complicated and sophisticated manner, which naturally leads to more R&D time.

Turbos were unheard of?

Fuck, Kawasaki had turbo bikes in the 80's.

Pretty much. There were no budget 5.3 turbo builds back then that you see everywhere now. Outside of imports, OEM's and the very rare, high dollar domestic build, they weren't around. Do you remember 1998? Yes there were Turbo T/A's, turbo imports, etc. The exotics had them, etc. You and Karl don't know the time before turbo's were mainstream.

When my brother and I started building his turbo truck back in 2004, no one had good information out even then.

I get what you were saying, just the phrasing was a little off.

In other news, I passed a silver '14+ 1LE on the highway the other day. Incredible badass car rolling down the road. Couldn't get him to bite any though.

Yeah when I got my Syclone, the only other people talking turbos were imports. There were no turbo domestic cars driving around on the street. There may have been a few builds you found in some magazines featuring turbos, but that's about it.

I think most of us here remember the early 2000s just fine. It wasn't tell 05-06 and later when you started to see the budget builds starting to make 600-800hp. It took people a few years to figure out their 1500 Silverado 4.8 with 100k on the clock was a better block to build than the aluminum ls1.

I'm guessing the Grand National wasn't around until 2000 either?

I'd agree with forcefed, for the most part.

There were definitely exceptions (GN, 930), but really, until the DSM turbos, FD, MKIV, you didn't see much reliable forced induction on a mass scale.

The mass scale is what I'm talking about too. Not your one off outlier examples.

I don't remember seeing a large amount of turbo V8s in the early 2000s. Seems like the past 3-5 years, maybe less, that that has become a common thing.
