Pretty sure he said he is now running into fuel issues too.

But again, that is ONE car with a lot of R&D being done on it and not some brand new engine concept that's never been worked with. You're confusing one off setups with commonly used kits that can be purchased from an online store and installed easily.

Is that setup a kit that anyone with a C7 could just slap on and put an off the shelf map on and go? No. It would take a lot of work and tweaking that he has done.

Cams were easy to make because they had a blue print from previous gen Chevy V8s, procharger setup just had to be modified a little from previous but the knowledge was there.

There is and has been a massive aftermarket in place for Chevy v8s for a long long time.

There was NOTHING for turbo straight 6 bmw engines because they didn't exist.
If you've seen the internals of a Gen 5 motor, I'm not sure how much of a blueprint the previous motors would give..

Not saying identical. Just saying the pieces were in place and people that have been working with GM v8s for so long were ready to just grind out a new cam as soon as the engine was released. Not something the bmw side could do.

As for the hpfp, Yep, same thing on the bmw side. There is a newly released setup that is showing a lot of promise. I'm sure something similar will be done for the others in the DI world.

Pretty close. But that's also why it's awesome. Just like a little research showed people with a 4" bore LS they could snag up L92 heads cheap and they flow as good as an aftermarket head. Then it caught on and the price caught up.

Karlen probably thinks the AMC Inline 6, 2JZ, and Cummins all share parts.

This explains why mods are progressing so quickly for the S55. Very similar to the N54. That and people who buy them will have more disposable income to waste on mods for a brand new car.

Word, tunes and basic boltons were available VERY QUICKLY for the N55 as opposed to the N54.

Still though, definitely take a while for development because the N55 is different in a lot of ways.

At some point they will get bigger turbos to fit. The new pure stage 2 getting things over 500/500 is a huge deal.

They are also getting port injection going which will solve the fuel issues.

If you can say all chebby v8's are the same, I can say all inline 6 bmw's are the same.

Ahh I misread.

Yeah they will hit the same wall too though.

Super quick increases and then a ceiling that will take a lot to push through.

More room to work with though which is making the turbo swaps so nice. They are already 630+hp in less than a year of working with them and a lot of room left imo.

I bought a brand new '98 Camaro and was in step with, and beating the shit out of the best of the best at that time.

I am pretty sure I had one of the first sprayed LS1 Camaros on the street.

The Dyno Shoppe (dead and gone speed shop in KC) literally called NOS to work through the setup on my car as there were no kits available for the LS1.

We shit bricks breaking 400whp and 450wtq and took it from there.

Hell I remember the Hypertech Power Programmer being released.

Please stop talking out of your ass about things that went down when you were eight years old.

Either way, I wasn't wrong. Ls1's were making 800 before 2006.

You said within months of release.

So please show me that.

Also I'd like to see non one off setups, meaning a "kit" making over 800whp on an LS1 prior to 2006.

Actually I'd like to see a "get to 800whp with this kit" for an LS1 right now. Again, not one off and fabbed for that specific car.

Karlen is an idiot on this subject.

I may be a Ford guy these days, but I've been there and done that with not only the '98 Camaro I posted, but my '00 SS...back in '00... it was a beast for it's time.

That one would pull Wingless Tony by 4-5 cars when I was on the bottle, and he would pull me by 2-3 when he sprayed the Supra. He was a 12.0 car off the bottle back then.

Those were very quick cars back in the day

Maybe you should just shut the fuck up, log off, and let those that know what they are talking about continue to post.
