I wish the states could opt in and offer a grant to expand fiber internet. You don't see the other ISP's looking to do anything more than raise rates on a 10-15 mb connection.

Yesterday they managed to cut my AT&T fiber line in the process. I talked to the guy I saw doing the work, he denied do any digging/damage even though he had a shovel in his hands. At&t repair guy found the cut in less than 2 minutes, right next to their conduit box. Th at&t guys said it looked like the google contractor even re-buried the cut cable to try and hide what he did.

I've seen them installing fiber lines on parallel. They have orange pipes sticking out of the ground, which happen to be right next to my AT&T garage.

How far out on parallel? They've got equipment in our area, Wyandotte high, but they claim mid-summer.

I really can't wait to get Google fiber. I can't stand TWC. Even with them comping me this months bill I still hate them.

You're Arrowhead? My brother lives in the Normandy West Estates. They just got done laying the fiber there as well.

Kansas Reminders, and our First Missouri Deadlines

There are some big deadlines coming up for our customers in the next fiberhoods in Kansas City, Kan. and, for the first time, customers in Kansas City, Mo., too!

As we've mentioned before, if you live in any of the next four Kansas City, Kan. fiberhoods, you need to select your Google Fiber service plan within the next few weeks in order to get Fiber service.

Today we’re also announcing the deadlines for our first eight Kansas City, Mo. fiberhoods — Crown Center, Midtown, Sunset Hill, South Plaza West, Countryside, Greenway Fields, Wornall Homestead, and Crossroads. yeah, I'm calling bullshit on Midtown getting 99%... my wife used to live down there and I cannot imagine that they counted correctly if they have 99% of the households down there saying yes. I can only imagine that they counted the nicer apartment/loft buildings as one 'household' each and with multiple sign ups in that 'household' the number went up drastically.

oh well, now that they finally got FX, I'm in. just gotta wait til Summer now.

Are you seeing the benefits in real world DL speeds where you are still throttled based on the host speeds?

I am noticing much faster download/uploads (coming from AT&T U-verse @ < 10 Mb), but I haven't been able to find a download faster than 180 Mb yet. Amazon S3 uploads/downloads were not very impressive.

So Jelly. I can't believe you get those speeds. Have you tried torrents? Is the traffic being monitored?
