Favorite place to have most anything done. You can't drive past that shop without there being some car from the 50's, 60's or 70's there along with the regular day to day stuff.

I went up to this place this afternoon to get some fish for my new 50 gallon. I talked to the owner for about an hour. Dude's really excited about his store, and he should be. Better selection of fish, better prices and you don't have to stand around for 10min waiting for someone to come help you. I will be going back to this place for everything pet related minus food.

Yup, my thoughts exactly. I got my fish there, and buy all my fish supplies and fish food there. He actually takes the time to talk to you instead of blowing you off.

New on this, shouts out to EA! (Erik)

I'm surprised to see that there aren't any more than what has been listed!

Living in Kansas City has made me a food whore. I'm surprised I'm not the size of Jared, pre-subway.

Some of my favorite local restaurants:
-Cupini's (Fresh pasta and BYOB)
-La Bodega (No one in KC beats their Sangria, NO ONE)
-Chosun (great Korean bbq)
-Jerusalem Cafe
-Vietnam Cafe (Both Rivermarket and Rainbow Blvd locations)
-Nara

Some of my favorite local joints:
-Hammerpress (surprised I didn't see this one on the list)
-DermaDoctor
-Arizona Trading Company (Both KCMO and Lawrence locations)
-Mud Pie Vegan Coffehouse and Bakery
-McGonigle's Market
-Record Bar
-Thunder Smoke Shop/It's A Dream/Headspace

I would add more but I think I went overload already, whoops!

I can't believe most of them have slipped my mind....

I say I need to get my hands on some of this Sangria.... STAT!

Yup all those places he listed rock. And La bodegas happy hour is one of the best in the city. I think you can get a pitcher of their white or red sangria for 9 or 12 dollars. Well worth it for the awesomeness.

KCSR mini meet?

PS: My mother makes some Sangria, that has literally put everyone of my friends on their asses. Its so good and smooth, then you bit into some of the fruit, and its like taking a shot. She won't tell me how she makes it or what she makes it with. I know it takes about 24-48 hours to get the right "soak" time. I want to steal it from her, bottle it...... make a million dollars, and retire to a beach where I spend my day selling sunglasses at a hut for fun.

If you ever get the recipe, post it. Good sangrias are awesome.

If you like mediterranean food, Go to Habashi House in the river market (they are only open for lunch, so don't forget to go early) They will ruin every other mediterranean place for you. Get the Shawarma Combo.

If you're into Viet, VCafe is pretty good, but check out Pho KC as well!

Sheridan's Lattes and Frozen Custard. They've got locations all over KC and they have some of the most amazing soft-serve ice cream I've ever eaten. Haven't tried their lattes, though.

Sheridan's is good. If you want some old fashioned diner style ice cream try Murray's in Westport.
For some gourmet type ice cream try GlacÚ on Main St just south of the Plaza. I guess they have a new Location in Leawood too.

Got another one, a new favorite.

Beemer Plumbing in Gardner, KS

Had a problem with an outside faucet, most companies were going to charge $250 to come out and fix the problem. He said that any waterline fix was $180. I told him I had to replace the outside faucet, and in the process bent a small copper feed pipe inside. He said pick up a new one and he would just install it for me while fixing the bent pipe. Then I said I was going to get a new shut off installed, and he said he would take care of that. I was at Home Depot trying to pick one out, and called to ask which one to choose. He said he would just pick one up and it would be cheaper than buying from HD. He got out and did the work, then said he would just give me the faucet and shut off valve free, and only charged me the $180. He also said that if I ever try to do anything else, call him and he would walk me through it over the phone. The owner is the one who came out and did the work, great guy!!! Will definately use him if I ever need anymore plumbing work done.

Sorry for the long story, just a really good experience with this company!
