Default Ford Zx2 issues..

OK, well my daughters ZX2 had a cracked exhaust manifold and I also read that the Constant Control relay is what could be messed up on her AC, as it will not engage.. even with bypass ...

so off to pick and pull, picked up a CC module and a manifold. pull it all out, replace them.. now wont start.. I did not hear the fuel pump priming when starting, so then replaced the CC module with the old one.. ( keep in mind the car RAN in the garage.. ) just not very well..

same thing, just wont fire.. checked plug, has spark, checked fuel it is spraying out of the filter.. so then "assumed" clogged cat.. so pulled the cat back off... and same thing will not engage.. check all connections still connected.. so what did I do wrong ?

I am in trouble as it run before. I "fixed" it.. also NO codes are showing, probalby because I unplugged the battery each time..

ideas ?

zx2's have a known problem with the cam sensor going bad. Also check and make sure the timing chain is still good and the cam sensor is not damaged. I had 2 zx2's that it happend on. One day is ran great, next day wouldn't start.

Cam sensor isn't a known issue. Cam sensor wouldn't cause it to not start nor can it be damaged by the timeing belt as its mounted on the cam not the timing belt. Your starting issue was something else.

The CCRM's are year specific depending what year you have. Which year is yours and if its a 99, look at the month it was built on the door tag.

I'm in southern joco if you want help, let me know. I have anything from a fully built 400whp zx2 to a 120whp n/a zx2 in my garage.

I just towed it to my MIL as we were moving, I went ahead to replaced the cam sensor... hoping.. I even put the old CCRM back in, no luck.. I pulled the plugs, checked the fuel, it will not even fire with starter fluid, but it is getting a spark to the plugs...

I towed it to my MIL place in Holden, we were moving to Warrensburg, and no room or time to fix it..

Going to look at it again this weekend.. heck if you got a place to look at it,I may borrow a trailer and pull it up.. any help would be appreciated.. usually I can figure these things out..

I'm not available this weekend or next, getting ready for a vacation. I'll hit you up when I'm back.

well, after so other opinions.. including have auto zone "test" my coil and tell me it was bad.. ( it didn't fix the issues) I pulled plugs again,, even pulled the exhaust manifold thinking maybe I put the gasket in upside down or something. and noticed a little antifreeze dripping out the manifold..

hmm.. maybe a bad head-gasket ? I've done them before, just never with a DOHC. and not looking forward to doing it...

My best advise... SELL IT!!.. I had a zx2 that had that same BS problem with the AC relay thing up under the hood and after replacing it twice and it still not being fixed I just sold the car. NEVER again!
