Default Brake Pad Recommendations?

Pretty sure I have finally cooked the Hawk HPS pads up front. Braking power seems to be quite delayed, and I was kind of fighting it last weekend.

Anyone have recommendations?

They will just be dealing with sticky street tires for the most part.

TIA.

Have you tried the Hawk HP Plus? They are a step up from the HPS and are supposed to be great for autocross.

I personally have been really pleased with Hawk pads, I currently run their HPS ceramics and like them quite a bit.

i am a huge fan of carbotechs. i have used the entire xp range and driven an ax6 pad also. in my e30 i have pfc06's currently.

the xp carbotechs are very linear, great release, and work amazingly at lower temps. the ax6 i drove was very good, but i still prefer the bite of the xp's--the xp12 was the only pad i felt needed any type of heat to work well.

the pfc06's(same could be said for the 01's) would be a horrible auto-x pad, as would the lower end of the hawk dtc lineup(purely my opinion) based on the torque curve vs heat. a guy at work likes his dtc70's and is a die hard auto-x guy.

all based purely if you have stock calipers. if you had wilwood calipers then the poly H is a fantastic pad--although far more abrasive than the carbotechs. i use them in the rear of my Z and even in the rears they really wear out a rotor.

that being said, if you liked your hps' then any pad with a COF of .60 or higher will blow your mind.

Based on feedback from others, I have pretty much decided to give the Carbontech AX6 pads a try.

I highly recommend all of Performance Friction Compound's products (PFC). I have been running their Compound 06 race pads for over a year now and love them, I will be switching to Compound 01 in the future due to their better initial bite.

Daddy like...

They just might be a little too aggressive for the street, but holy shitballs what a marked difference from the HPS pads!

They are a little noisy, but totally tolerable at this point.

If only the little bastard had ABS...

Any day to day driving squeal from those pads recommended? I have some carbon metallic pads on CTS-V (6 pot/4 pot) and they squeal like a champ. Once they are warm, they make zero noise and stop amazing. I just can't stand the squeal.

That was not even close to stomping on the pedal, and with those oh so shitty drums in the back. It was more of a slightly firm application. I think I will have to be more choosy about who I let drive the old turd on the street as emergency maneuvers might get really hairy really quick unless you are used to the car.

I need R comps. Oh wait...

The Carbontechs definitely make their presence known, but my little shitbox is not exactly quiet, so it isn't that noticeable.

Unless you are the kind of person that gets easily annoyed by minor noises, they are totally tolerable. It would be different if they were on a whisper quiet luxo barge.

I don't think they would fit with what most would expect from a CTS-V for a daily pad. Again, it is all about what is tolerable to you.

The Hawk HPS pads are less agressive, and still offer good stopping power. I just cooked the set I was running. They don't dust much, and they are really quiet.

Might be worth a shot for you.
