Default On to the next chapter...

After looking for quite a few months I decided on not continuing my search for a higher mileage ZR-1. I was looking for a car that had between 50,000-100,000 miles within my budget to replace my old White ZR-1. It was one of the most fun cars I had owned and that LT5 well we know my stance on that engine. I decided to sellout and buy an LS powered corvette. I looked at quite a few but this one seemed to stand out the most. Was in the mileage and budget I had set.

The only complaints thus far is the shifter is TERRIBLE. Worst shifting car I have ever been in. Getting the car up to snuff has been pretty simple. Changed all the fluids the last week or so. Car runs great.

2003 C5Z06, 75,000 miles. Borla Axleback and Blackwing intake. Here are the pics:

Apparently this is a thing now...

Nice. Seeing as you prob snagged it for 15 or less I just don't see how you could have bought anything better for the money

Should try and find OEM C5Z wheels, those base C6 wheels aren't doing the car any favors. Welcome to LS land.

I'd imagine it is. I think those ls6 dyno around 350 stock. Mine put down 340.

Then to factor in I weigh about 130 lbs more than him, it should be.

Did it stand out like that passenger side door does?

I kid, I really want one.

To me it looks like the rear quarter doesn't match. Rear bumper matches the door, front fender.

I agree on finding different wheels and while you're at it lose the moulding on the doors

Guy at my work as a yellow C5Z but with the stock wheels gloss black and tinted windows. It actually looks really good and I hate yellow cars. He has headers, intake, tune, and thats about it and when we ran he was side by side if not pulling just a little on my stingray.

Hope you got it for a decent price. Seems like $15K is now about the going rate.

I'm surprised it was that close. I'd think the C5z would pull.

We didn't get the greatest runs (traffic a head) and just went from a roll. Probably 50mph punch and I got out on him a car. Then he caught back up even with me. Second hit, was a little faster 60-65 and he was up a gear too high. I yanked a good 1-2 cars right off the bat and then he just stayed there. My car (I hope) would be a low low 12, high 11.9 car. But realistically probably a 12.5 @ 115mph or so. He went to the strip right before winter and clicked off some 12.5/12.6 @115-116 with horrible 60' times due to it being like 45degs out that day. Who knows how good of tune it has, he bought it all done. Paid 16.5K for it, think its got 30K miles. He wants to try and flip it for 18-19K, since its low miles still, not sure if he will get that much or not. Who knows.

I have raced a bolt on, cammed c5z and that pulled me pretty good. The light weight makes up for any power difference even in stock form. C7s be heavy

That sounds like a pretty solid deal he got.

Agreed on the rest.

I'm working on getting different wheels. I actually picked up a set of stock C5Z wheels. They will most likely be dedicated track wheels.

The bumpers I think have been re sprayed but nothing shows on Carfax. Also the rest of the car is pretty damn near mint.

I got it for a good price considering the condition. It was owned by an old guy who kept it covered in his garage.

I looked at these for a whole and I could only find ones that had a ton of mods, or were ragged out.

Next things I need to do are valve springs, and good tires.

So you're saying you bought this from a typical, run of the mill Corvette owner?

What about khakis and all white new balances? That's the demographic buying new lol.

C5z wheels will be awesome. Not much better unless your willing to drop some big money. Car looks great

I thought by going to a C5z consumables would be cheaper than my old ZR-1. Come to find out that most rear wheels stick out on the C5z. You need to have a custom offset OR widebody conversion.

So much for having a "run of the mill" car.

Surely there are lots of reproduction C5/C6/C7 wheels that will bolt right up for $1K.

I saw some of those. The C6Z Spyder wheels would look good if I could get them in a gunmetal color.

I got a set of stock C5Z wheels but they have some blemishes here and there. Those will be for the track only.

I would get another set of C5Z wheels for non-track duty as well, but I think they are one of the best looking wheels GM did.
