My forgestars had the clear peel off like paper first, then re coated and came back a dull gray color instead of hyper silver, so I then had them powder coated twice after that until they were the original color again. By that time they had annealed and were soft as peanut butter and all out of round due to stress.

Crap wheels, crap company.

It's pretty amazing honestly. I've heard so many bad reviews and there are so many people that love the wheels and swear by them.

Yeah, I honestly couldn't recommend them to anyone. I got fortunate and paid a comically low price from the get go, because they failed to get them to me on time. I had actually disputed the charge and gotten my money back thanks to email correspondence indicating a total failure to deliver the product, and then the vendor finally received them and was desperate to still sell them to me. I paid around $1190, shipped, for all four.

I'd have been substantially more irritated if I'd paid the full $1800-2000 or whatever most people pay for the 18x10/19x12 setup. Regardless, I'm happy with them now.

Got a new plate. Nothing else too new. About to hit 22,000 miles. I figured I'd have it in storage for the winter, but it's hard to say no to driving it when it's clear out.

way more calm cyber monday than last year (that was the cam kit, forgestars, etc etc)

AMT motor mounts - as far as I know, the stocks aren't leaking, but they're known for it. May as well get these in.

aFe PFADT endlinks - been dealing with the low speed knocking most of the year, so just gonna get these out of the way.

Installing with a friend when they show up, so I'll let people know how the motor mounts are. I am expecting increased NVH, because that's obvious, and I'm assuming it'll lead to the car being even shakier at idle..which hopefully won't get annoying.

I also ditched the Tacoma for a new Passat, which is a strikingly better DD for my needs.

MBA graduation celebration = new parts ordered.

Kooks 2" primary longtubes
Kooks 3" catless midpipe
Stoptech rotors, pads, Motul fluid for a complete flush
DEI wrap for the starter and plug wires
AMT motor mounts will also be getting installed, but have had those in the garage since December.

Gains from the headers should be fairly interesting. The car will be retuned by Justune, on the same dyno, so there are no variables nor were any other engine mods completed up until now from the original 553whp/501wtq numbers.

Well, after a bunch of annoying BS with Kooks, the car is back and being driven. I dropped the car off with Tanner Pap a few weeks ago to do a bit of a spring refresh. He installed the AMT motor mounts, Kooks 2" headers, and all the brake stuff I identified in the post above.

I love the motor mounts. The additional directness they add to the car is awesome. There is an obvious, and expected, increase in NVH at idle and taking off, but once moving, they are bliss.

The brakes are great. It's a street car, so I was primarily concerned with noise and dust, both of which there is none. They do feel better, of course, because I'm pretty sure the OEM fluid was never changed.

I maintained the OEM NPP valve-actuated axleback, so it's still very easy to drive on the highway and in quiet mode, which is something I won't give up. The car made no increase in peak hp, however, carries more between 5-7k and is a lot stronger up top. I'm intake-limited now, but don't foresee tackling that project before my next deployment. The big issue is that Kooks sent some bullshit headers that didn't fit on my car, and didn't fit on their jig, that they refused to replace. They made some "minor modifications" for more bell housing clearance that didn't do shit, so the car was down for two weeks and Tanner had to fuck around with all their nonsense just to end up fixing them on their own.

Moral? I will never purchase a Kooks product again. I feel more strongly about them than I do against Forgestar.

Great fitment

In any case, I am now at 24,500 miles. Took it to Denver and back to Manhattan last weekend, and it did as great as the big road trip last summer. Howeverrrrr, my DD was a garbage 2017 Tacoma last summer and now I have this Passat that is a lot less worrisome on trips, and even gets better MPG, so that may be the end of unneeded long trips in the Corvette. We will see.

It's crazy how much difference a good set of motor mounts makes. After upgrading on my ctsv, any "fun car" I get from here out, I'll be replacing.

That sucks to hear about kooks, for the price point and being a big name in the header world you would think they would swap them no questions asked.

No joke. It has required an adjustment to my driving to get used to how direct shifts feel. There is zero slop at all. Love it. I dunno if AMT makes anything for your LS cars, but I would highly recommend them if so.

Agreed. Tanner and I both spoke to them and were very reasonable. I will literally never purchase anything from them again and could only condone you (and anyone else seeing my posts) do the same. They were absolute fuckheads about a problem that had absolutely nothing to do with my car or installing tech. They didn't give a fuck about my car's downtime, my tech's labor, or anything in between.

It was most likely Tanner in it at that point, that's right around where he lives and works on the car. If you've been in a H/C/I C6Z, you probably don't need a ride. You are a shithead.

I always thought of Kooks as a premium product. I guess I can't say that now. The last set of headers I had were a set of ARH headers. I must admit, those were top quality. Pricey, however.

I found a clean title 07 c6z with 75k on it w a clean title and carfax, no mods for $23k. I'm hoping that one day I'll be able to swing one before we're all mandated to driving hybrids.

Truth. If I can keep one person from purchasing Kooks, I'm happy. Neeeever again.

That's a pretty good price for those miles. Typically that would be in the $29-31 range.

And, yes. There is some serious, legitimate car enthusiast bliss in a 7.0 that revs to 7-grand and has a 6mt.

I've actually never so much as sat in one. The only Vette I've sat in since HS was error's blue C7, and I declined the offer to drive it.

I'm afraid my Ford loyalty might get damaged in the process

Well, two weeks ago I was on the hunt for a very specific colorway on a new road bike, and found one about 5 hours from where I live, in Fayetteville. So I did what any rational person would do, and drove my Z06 to get it.

johntesi took these.

Looks like if you took the bike apart it would of fit in your hatch. Awkward looking being on a sports car. But hey it looks like it worked well doing it that way

Well, one year (since I came home from deployment) and 20,000 miles later, and she still cleans up. Lots less miles this year than last, but still not afraid to take it out.

Nothing much new. Finally having a CarPlay headunit installed. Changing out the exhaust tips (retaining NPP valves) in the next few weeks. Sitting at 27.5k miles.
