So are you making the C6 interior better or just adding a few alctara parts?

Thank you. I am actually very pleased with the pricing of this stuff. I probably have $500 in the pictures above...but hell, I couldn't have upgraded my GTIs with OEM parts for this price. The steering wheel was like $180...which seems amazing to me, given the fact it is suede and can be ordered with any combination of stereo/Bluetooth or no controls at all. The other wheel I have had Bluetooth, which my car doesn't have.

Bought all the stuff above from Cultrag Performance, one of the corvette forum sponsors.

Suede, not "alctara."

So, after a long nine months, seven of which consisted of C6Z ownership, I am finally home and got to pick up the car from Nick on Sunday afternoon.

The car is absolutely surreal. It is unbelievably drivable, while also being a fucking monster. I've kept TC on, because I don't want to end up youtube famous looping the car in the first week, but 2nd through 4th gear pulls are seriously insane. The cam is truly perfect for the car. I drove it from Manhattan to Birmingham yesterday, and it is insanely nice to drive on the freeway. 6th gear at 65 mph just lopes along, no surge or other issues.

I am literally just elated. I have already put over 1000 miles on it (it is now at 8XXX) and can't wait for the big trip I have planned in it this summer. After that, it is going to garage queen status with somewhere around 15k on it.

Nick pulled it down to LS with his duramax, which is just as gorgeous in real life as on here. Fiiiinally get to see the Z.

Nick was able to find some time to put most of the interior pieces in the car. Super happy I committed to these pieces. The DS Vettes console lid is perfect...last thing is to find a dealer to put the suede steering wheel in.

I ended up pulling the black vinyl off the b-pillar center, as it didn't flow well to me.

With my DD and motivation for silver on dark bronze.

LOVE. IT. !!

Very glad you have it and can finally enjoy it! Looks amazing... and I'm sure it runs even better. Agree on keeping TC on - I did the same thing while in my possession, and that was stock! It was a beast even in its 'younger days.'

That's the most activity it has seen at once in a number of years.. probably since my dad bought it in Phoenix in 2008 and drove it back to KC.

Is it the vinyl on the roof you pulled off?

Enjoy! Can't wait to meet sometime and see it again!

Mike

Thank you!! I actually just pulled the vinyl of the hoop. If you look back earlier on, when the car was at Restomod, it was tinted and the roof vinyl attached. I primarily did this due to the suction-cup based bike rack I will be using with the car, and wanting to protect the OE paint. I gave a shot of also wrapping the center portion of the B-pillar hoop. I wasn't stoked on it, but have kept the black main roof in order to continue with the primary focus of protecting the paint while bikes are up top. Thank you again and see ya soon!

looks great.

I'm hoping I'll be able to swing a c6z before cars are all auto-pilot and the roads are electronically monitored for speeding infractions.

Update:

I have clocked over 11,000 miles on the car in the 10 weeks since I have been home, and it's about to roll over 18k. It has been to 14 states, and probably seen 100 mph way too many times. All I have had to do is recharge the A/C and perform two oil changes. It has been a freaking riot and my happiness with the car is hard to put into words. Being able to drive a 630 hp car across the country with my best friend (from Manhattan to Austin, El Paso, Tucson, Las Vegas, and Denver) was an unforgettable experience.

Fantastic Chris! So glad you're enjoying the car! You put 150% more miles on it in 10 weeks than it had in 10 years! It has more than my '96 does now (I'm not kidding).

Love the videos, thanks for posting them. That is what the car was made to do, for sure.

Keep it up!

Mike

20,000 mile update

Had the Forgestars re-powdercoated. I was never happy with how ModBargains/Forgestar sent them to me, because I always noticed that one wheel was not the same as the others. It wasn't until I got them off the car that I got to reaffirm this.

This is how they sent them to me...all four were supposed to be "matte bronze". Interesting. I'd avoid them going forward, as they did nothing for me when I sent this information and corresponding finish thickness gauge shots showing that they were done at completely different times, with different people.

Anyway, dropped the wheels off at MTS Coatings in Manhattan, KS. I inadvertently chose an old school GM trim color, called "GM Silver II" from Prismatic Powders.

Hankooks mounted and balanced at Burnett Automotive in Manhattan, KS. They did a very good job and were completely cognizant of the fact that the wheels were picked up from powder that day. Zero scratching, perfect balancing...and they got them done in an hour on a Friday afternoon, right before close..with no appointment.

Hurried my ass over to the storage unit to get them on the car.

This was the longest I'd ever gone without driving it, so getting to take it out at sunset on a Friday evening was awesome at this point. Drove to KC that night, and St. Joseph to visit Nick on Saturday. The car never gets old.

While I liked the dark bronze look better, the lighter color still looks great with the silver.
