![]() Has anyone upgraded their sealed beam headlights to a LED headlight? I'm debating getting a cheap HID or LED headlight for my Corvette.

![]() If you use h11 I have some you're welcome to for free to try. They don't work well in projector housings but should in reflector.

![]() Have you considered looking in to making a retrofit of your own? For the price of the thing linked to Amazon you could make your own set of projector headlights with an HID kit from The Retrofit Source. Retrofits are THE WAY to go if you're thinking HIDs in a car that didn't originally come with them.
The main advantages are a better beam focus as well as not blinding the shit out of the people driving in front of you/oncoming. Also, all HID kits come from Japan these days. They're cheap. Paying more than like $30-$50 for an HID kit is ridiculous. At that price, it should also come with a warranty. PM if you like, but I have a guy that is doing retrofits for nearly no profit on several Grand Cherokee's. The one he did for me was relatively inexpensive (and this is going on a 95 Grand Cherokee for reference) and I'm sure he'd be open to taking on different projects!

Fuck people that put HIDs in reflector housings. OP, I would go with what Prolific suggested. The Amazon link you posted isn't cheap and, in my very humble opinion, ugly as sin. |

I have been thinking of these too. They appear to be a really nice kit. The only reason for looking at LED kits is the ease of install and they are very bright. My stock headlights on the vette just suck. A lot of guys just put a HID kit in their stock foglights and stop using their headlights altogether.

![]() Those look really cheap. The cutoff is very blurry, even up close, and I have a feeling it'll be way worse the further you go back.
In the case of automotive lighting, buy once and cry once. A good set will run you around $350 total for everything. If you want me to get you in contact with the guy that does them for me I can. |
