The Flash Headlines Videos
THE FLASH Will Weave Kid Flash, Killer Frost And Gypsy Story Arcs Into Remaining Season 3 Episodes

With Savitar trapped in the Speed Force, is Iris truly safe? While that plot thread continues to run its course, expect development on Gypsy & Vibe's relationship, Kid Flash and Killer Frost as well.

Savitar was seemingly defeated in The Flash season 2's midseason finale but a glimpse of the future revealed that Iris would die by Savitar's hand. Armed with that knowledge Barry and his allies will be frantically searching for ways to prepare for an inevitable second round with the God of Speed. “Now that Barry has gotten a glimpse of the future he will be trying to do whatever it takes to save her,” according to Flash co-showrunner Aaron Helbing. He added, “Everybody will play a huge part in that, because Iris is part of the team.

Does that also include Tom Felton's Julian Albert aka Dr. Alchemy? “He feels culpable, and wants to make amends," says Helbing. But it seems that Barry's jaunt to the future will be driving him bonkers as he can't figure out how Savitar could break free of the Speed Force. Said Helbing, “That will be an itch that Barry can’t scratch. How is this possible?'”

As for the rest of Team Flash, the co-showrunner adds that Gypsy (played by the recently cast Jessica Camacho of Sleepy Hollow) will be playing an important adversarial role in Cisco's budding superhero career, Caitlin will continue to wrestle with her Killer Frost alter ego and Wally West will continue to fly off the handle and cause trouble as Kid Flash.

THE FLASH Villain Black Flash Will Make His Presence Felt In The DC TV Universe In A Big Way This Year

First teased in the season two finale of The Flash, it has been confirmed that The Black Flash is coming to The CW series, but it doesn't sound like it will be Teddy Sears wearing the speedster's suit!

Season three of The Flash has already introduced us to Savitar, Kid-Flash, and Jesse Quick, but at least one more speedster is on the way this year! However, based on comments from showrunner Andrew Kreisberg, that's not the only series the Grim Reaper of the DC TV Universe will make his presence felt in. Could it be that he's coming for the recently resurrected Reverse-Flash in Legends of Tomorrow?

"I will say that you might be seeing him on multiple shows," he teased at the Television Critics' Association's Winter Press Tour today. It was at the end of season two that we saw Earth-2's Hunter Zolomon/Zoom transformed into The Black Flash, but Teddy Sears may not be the one who plays him!

That's because the actor has landed a role on 24: Legacy, and it sounds like the DC TV Universe is going to need a lot of the villain. "He’s a classic character. We have storylines on multiple shows that fit having him around. There’s something so scary about him, something even scarier than when he was just the man, because now it’s now he is the Grim Reaper, he is the devil. How do you stop the devil? So it presents an interesting challenge for the heroes of the respective shows in which he appears."

Robbie Amell Confirmed To Return As Ronnie Raymond In THE FLASH Season 3

While we've met his Earth-2 doppelganger, Robbie Amell has been absent from The Flash since the season two premiere, but it has now been confirmed that he'll return. However, which version will it be?

Ronnie Raymond is returning to The Flash, but not necessarily the one who helped close the Singularity back in the season two premiere. Entertainment Weekly reports that Robbie Amell has signed up to reprise the role, but beyond knowing that he'll show up in a winter episode, they don't offer any more specifics. Since the character's death, we've met his Earth-2 doppelganger in the form of Deathstorm.

Zoom took him out, so he won't be returning but theories that the original Ronnie somehow survived that explosion which sealed the breach between worlds have been doing the rounds for ages now.

Given the vulnerable mental state of Caitlin Snow, as she transforms into Killer Frost, chances are Ronnie will just show up as a hallucination, so it may be too soon to start getting excited about this news. With any luck, The CW will reveal some details soon, so let us know your theories below.

Prepare For A Rumble In The Jungle With This Sweet New Poster For THE FLASH: "Attack On Gorilla City"

Next week, get ready for one of The Flash's wildest adventures yet when the team heads to Earth-2 to face Gorilla Grodd! The CW has released a new poster for the two-episode event, so come take a look!

Next week's episode of The Flash might be one of the show's most ambitious yet, as it takes the team (Barry, Cisco, Caitlin, & Julian) to Gorilla City where they'll find themselves face-to-face with Grodd and his Gorilla brethren. While the synopsis does tease that Grodd may actually be seeking Barry's help in stopping a devastating attack on Earth-1, you never know when the tides can turn and/or his true motives, especially considering their past encounters.

The CW has released a brand new poster for the upcoming two-part special event featuring the Scarlet Speedster front-and-center as he makes his way into Gorilla City. Check it out below:

"Attack on Gorilla City" - (8:00-9:00 p.m. ET) (Content Rating TBD) (HDTV)

BARRY AND TEAM TRAVEL TO GORILLA CITY AND FACE GRODD - When Jesse Quick (guest star Violett Beane) informs the team that her father (Tom Cavanagh) has been abducted, Barry (Grant Gustin), Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker), Cisco (Carlos Valdes) and Julian (Tom Felton) voyage to Earth-2 on a rescue mission to save Harry from Gorilla City. As they trek through the forest, Barry and the team are immediately captured and brought to Grodd (voiced by David Sobolov). Grodd tells them he needs their help to stop Solovar (voiced by Keith David), the leader of Gorilla City, as Solovar wants to invade Earth-1. Meanwhile, back on Earth-1, Jesse and Kid Flash (Keiynan Lonsdale) hit the streets to stop a metahuman that can control gravity, with H.R. and Joe (Jesse L. Martin) guiding them from S.T.A.R. Labs. Dermott Downs directed the episode with story by Andrew Kresiberg and teleplay by Aaron Helbing & David Kob (#313). Original airdate 2/21/2017.

New Photos From THE FLASH Offer A Fresh Look At Grodd And The Villainous Solovar

The CW has released a new batch of stills from the next episode of The Flash, and as well as offering up a new look at Gorilla Grodd, we also get to see the small screen debut of the villainous Solovar!

Six more photos from The Flash have found their way online today, and they offer up a look at some of the upcoming two-parter's CG heavy moments. As you might expect from an episode titled "Attack on Gorilla City," we get to see lots of Grodd here, but also making his debut is Solovar, the villain who the Scarlet Speedster's enemy will look for help in taking down.

This instalment of The Flash airs next Tuesday, with the second part (which sees the gorillas invading Central City) set to air the following week in "Attack on Central City." What do you guys think of these images? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section down below.

THE FLASH Season 4 Won't Feature Yet Another Speedster As The Show's Big Bad

In news likely to come as a relief to those of you sick of seeing The Fastest Man Alive battling fellow speedsters in The Flash, it's been confirmed that big changes are coming to season four...

This weekend, a PaleyFest panel took place for the DC TV shows currently airing on The CW, and some interesting details were revealed (via TV Line) about what's to come in The Flash. Since show launched, the big bad of each season has been a speedster and while we're only in its third year, many fans have said that we didn't need to see someone like "Speed God" Savitar after Reverse-Flash and Zoom.

"Next season we’re not going to have a speedster," executive producer Andrew Kreisberg revealed when he was asked if yet another of those will be battling Barry when the show's fourth season airs.

The Flash has utilised so many DC Comics villains, it's hard to imagine who could take the place of a speedster, but going back to Savitar, Kreisberg shed some more light on what's to come with him. "We know who he is under there, and we’ve been planning this for a while," he confirmed, promising they have a plan for Savitar. Meanwhile, more details will be revealed in the eighteenth episode introducing Abra Kadabra as that character knows who the Speed God is beneath that metallic mask.

More hints should also follow in episode nineteen - titled "The Once and Future Flash" as the EP added that the Scarlet Speedster will be taking a trip into the future...because I guess he's sick of screwing up just the past! "Barry decides that the only way he can find out what he needs to know is in the future," Kreisberg concluded. Intriguing, eh? As always, share your thoughts in the comments section.

Thoughts on who Savitar is? I can't see it being future Barry as that would be way to easy. What about Ronnie?

when he was zapped by the particle accelerator, who knows what that did to him. I can't think of anyone else from season 1 or 2 that could be Savitar.

Is The Flash's Savitar Actually Ronnie Raymond?

Spoilers (and plenty of speculation) ahead for tonight's episode of The Flash, titled "Once and Future Flash." (Photo: The CW/Warner Bros. TV)In tonight's episode of The Flash, a trip to the future taught Barry that one of the reasons Savitar was able to do so much damage to Team Flash, and to kill Iris: he had help from Killer Frost, the "evil" version of Caitlin Snow, who had been wooed over to his side with a promise of stability...even if it came at the cost her humanity.

In the closing moments, then, just before the teaser trailer that promised Savitar's true identity would be revealed next week, he revealed himself to Killer Frost -- and what happened next immediately raised our suspicions that Savitar might actually be the returned form of Ronnie Raymond, Caitlin Snow's husband, who died at the end of The Flash season 1.
Ronnie was one half of Firestorm, a hero who fought alongside The Flash to close the singularity that nearly consumed Central City after the first time Barry time-traveled. When Firestorm exploded near the singularity, he managed to close the black hole, but when Firestorm split, Barry only managed to find and save one of the two men who composed Firestorm's matrix: Professor Martin Stein. Ronnie was lost, just hours after his marriage to Caitlin.

So what has us thinking that the mystery baddie is actually Robbie Amell's character? Well...

CAITLIN'S REACTION

At the end of tonight’s episode, viewers of The Flash saw Caitlin Snow (Danielle Panabaker) — who happened to be in full-on Killer Frost mode — wandering through a forest somewhere outside of the Central City. In typical Frost fashion, she happened to be walking barefoot through inches of snow, but why would she do that? To meet with the God of Speed himself, of course.
(Photo: The CW/Warner Bros. TV)When Caitlin finally found Savitar in the forest, the latter revealed that in exchange for help, he’d be sure that Killer Frost’s alter-ego Caitlin Snow never re-emerges. When Killer Frost asks Savitar why she should trust him, Savitar knelt down and began to take off his suit.
As the man inside the suit emerged, a sense of seriousness came across Killer Frost’s face and she utters a simple line, “What do you need me to do?”
That look of surprise and her immediate leap to loyalty seems like the kind of thing that would be nearly impossible to inspire, especially in Killer Frost who, unlike Caitlin, hasn't yet been demonstrated to form personal bonds.

Except...

THICK AS THIEVES

...on Earth-2, where Deathstorm and Killer Frost were lifelong partners.
(Photo: The CW/Warner Bros. TV)Even while working for Zoom, a godlike villain who held Earth-2 under his thumb, Killer Frost was willing to throw all of that away and throw in with The Flash because she was so heartbroken and directionless.
Since the very beginning, Ronnie has been Caitlin's North Star, on this Earth or any other, so certainly finding him alive would be something that might cause her some character regression.

THE BLUE ENERGY

A lot of fan theories have centered on the idea of the blue energy in Savitar's armor being indicative of the blue lightning the dark, "five years later" version of Barry Allen trailed during a recent story arc in which an evil version of The Flash from the future traveled back and did battle with Barry and a then-new-to-speedstering Wally.
(Photo: The CW/Warner Bros. TV)That's actually been a fairly credible argument, and one that's been hard to shake as we've tried to come up with alternative theories that don't involve an alternate Barry being the big bad.

But now we've got something the kind of makes sense, courtesy a season 2 episode of The Flash.
Y'know: the one where they introduced Jax, the guy who bonded with Professor Stein to form Firestorm after Ronnie's death at the end of season 1. That's when everyone initially speculated we might see Deathstorm, since Professor Stein was spontaneously erupting with blue flame because his physical form was unstable due to being separated from Ronnie.

In the comics, of course, Deathstorm originated as a Black Lantern during the Blackest Night event, and back then the undead Firestorm threw off blue flame. Later, during Forever Evil, another version of Deathstorm would be introduced which was simply an alternate-Earth version of the character, and that character had a gruesome visage but his powers exhibited much like Firestorm's.
When Stein was separated from Ronnie following his death, The Flash saw him get powers that looked like Deathstorm I, for lack of a better term, while the Earth-2 Ronnie, who went by Deathstorm, actually was just an alternate Ronnie, like Deathstorm II.

...but if "our" Ronnie, one separated from Stein, came back and somehow found a way to contain himself in the Savitar armor? What would that look like? Hmm...!

NO TIME FOR LOVE, DOCTOR SNOW!

Earlier this season, before Caitlin's relationship with Julian started to really get complicated, ComicBook.com spoke with Danielle Panabaker about her character's singledom.
(Photo: The CW/Warner Bros. TV)"I'm excited for her to not be with someone this year," Panabaker said, adding, "It's not realistic but I'd love Robbie playing Ronnie to come back. That's my dream: they're fire and ice; they're meant to be together."
If Ronnie is Savitar, though, then introducing a former minion of Savitar to inadvertently steal Caitlin's heart and ultimately help her find her way back to humanity would be a particularly ironic way to develop her story -- and it would give the romance that Panabaker suggested maybe her character doesn't need a reason to have existed.

A CRAZY THEORY

Here's something that isn't directly about, but is closely tied to, the theory of Ronnie being Savitar.
(Photo: The CW/Warner Bros. TV)Anybody remember HR Wells’s face-changing tech from earlier episodes of The Flash season 3? He was using it to hide himself so that people didn’t arrest him for looking like Harrison?
...What if that’s why Caitlin seemingly isn’t at the funeral that set spies caught being shot for the finale? What if her redemption is that she pretends to be Iris, essentially forcing Savitar to kill her?

SPOILERS: Savitar's Shocking Origin Story Was Revealed In THE FLASH Last Night

Last night's episode of The Flash saw Savitar finally reveal his past, and it was a revelation full of implications for the future. Hit the jump to watch a video of this key season three moment...

As many of you theorised, last night's episode of The Flash confirmed that Savitar is a time remnant. Created by Barry Allen four years from now when he battles Savitar, the villain left his earlier self to survive and he descended into madness when his friends and family shunned him for not being the real deal. Why they would treat even just a copy of the Scarlet Speedster like that is hard to say!

We also don't know how this corrupted version of Barry got that gruesome scar, but more will hopefully be revealed in the next two weeks. Cisco later explained that neither Savitar nor the time remnant Barry came first as it's a closed loop which is forever in motion. Pretty confusing, right?

Even so, this twist is still very interesting and has taken The Flash in an exciting new direction. It's just a shame that the reveal came so late as you can't help but feel that this is something which should have been explored over more than just a few weeks. Anyway, check out the shocking origin story of the Speed God below and then be sure to head to the comments section to share your thoughts.

Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) lived a normal life as a perpetually tardy C.S.I. in the Central City Police Department. Barry’s life changed forever when the S.T.A.R. Labs Particle Accelerator exploded, creating a dark-matter lightning storm that struck Barry, bestowing him with super-speed and making him the fastest man alive — The Flash. But when Barry used his extraordinary abilities to travel back in time and save his mother’s life, he inadvertently created an alternate timeline known as Flashpoint; a phenomenon that gave birth to the villainous speed god known as Savitar, and changed the lives of Caitlin Snow (Danielle Panabaker) and Wally West (Keiyan Lonsdale) forever. With the help of his adoptive father, Joe West (Jesse L. Martin), his lifelong best friend and love interest Iris West (Candice Patton), and his friends at S.T.A.R. Labs -- Cisco Ramon (Carlos Valdes), C.S.I Julian Albert (Tom Felton), and an Earth-19 novelist named H.R. Wells (Tom Cavanaugh) -- Barry continues to protect the people of Central City from the meta-humans that threaten it.

THE FLASH: The Thinker Reportedly Confirmed As The Main Villain For Season 4

The Flash has promised fans a villain that's not a speedster for its fourth season, and it looks like hints dropped in season 3 were foreshadowing the Thinker as Barry's next adversary...

Earlier this year, the team behind The Flash on the CW promised that the show would (finally) not feature a speedster as the main antagonist in its fourth season next fall. While details on who that villain would be have remained scarce, some attentive fans started putting the pieces together after an episode that featured the villainous Abra Kadabra, who hailed from the future on Earth-19.

In the episode, the villain warns, “There’s Thawne, Zoom, DeVoe… but none of them hurt you like Savitar.” Many took the mention of "DeVoe" to refer to Clifford DeVoe, AKA the DC comics villain known as The Thinker. The name was mentioned a second time by Savitar in the season finale, “This is where we came up with the cerebral inhibitor… to use against DeVoe.”

TV Line
has now reported that this foreshadowing wasn't just for show, and that The Thinker will indeed be the main villain of season 4, detailing that "casting is now underway for a 40-something actor to play what one might call 'the fastest mind alive.'" Of course, Barry will have to escape his Speed Force prison first, but knowing the show, that shouldn't take too long!

Do you have any casting choices for the role, or would you have preferred a different villain? Let us know what you think in the comments!

The Flash season 4, episode 1:
“Running up against an evil time remnant version of yourself is something no one should ever have to do, but that’s exactly what faced Barry Allen (aka The Flash) as he fought to save the life of fiancée Iris West from the God of Speed known as Savitar. Barry’s victory was short-lived, however, as an unbalanced Speed Force began to wreak havoc on Central City, forcing Barry to sacrifice himself for the greater good. With The Fastest Man Alive now trapped inside an extra-dimensional energy, and unknown dangers lurking in the shadows, it will be up to Team Flash to free Barry from his own personal Hell.”
