Dare I say the Fox is almost nostalgic as a 1st gen Stang and i actually much prefer the Fox. I also like 96-98 Cobras with the wing delete. That 4.6/5.0 DOHC in a notchback would be heaven for me.
Agree for sure. The notch is going to be a huge classic with low miles and 100% stock.

Stock cam in them truly isn't bad but definitely helps. That damn intake and heads were terrible . I would love to have a notch with just an NA coyote swap.

It's pretty amazing what you can buy right now for $25-30k.

Higher mileage C6z are into the 20s. With drag radials, you're talking about a mid to deep 11s car that'll do 200mph and make panties so wet you'll have to keep extra towels in goddam thing.

True. C6z is probably the best value right now. I've seen them with low ish miles and heads fixed for right around 30

Watch the vid, brotato.

The manual was quicker

The vid made me laugh because just a few months ago Foacad and others were talking crazy like the auto was a better choice performance wise.

For drag consistency, I get why people would want an auto. And they're much better than they used to be.

But there's a reason the c5z and C6z came in only one flavor.

The auto is pretty figured out, even the 8 speed in the auto surprised me.

Guy I know that has worked with GM a lot doing press stuff and is a driving fool was able to get quicker times out of the auto C7Z vs. the manual. He said he felt like he was going faster in the manual, but in the auto he was really able to focus on his lines and in turn put down faster laps, just a few laps in.

I think I'd prefer the 6 speed still, but I think most people would be faster with the auto.

The 2018 Camaro ZL1 1LE Scores A Kickass Win For Manual Transmissions

Normally, I think Nürburgring lap times are silly and shouldn’t be taken seriously, but the time that the 2018 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE just set is so insane that I’m going to tell you about it anyway. It involves good, wholesome American manual gearboxes kicking the crap out of fancy soft European dual-clutch transmissions.
The Camaro ZL1 was already a track-thrashing beast. It has a supercharged V8 that makes 650 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque. But then Chevy gave it a 1LE performance package, which meant fatter tires, improved aero, some weight loss and updated suspension bits. And now the thing can do a 7:16 around the Green Hell and I don’t know up from down anymore.

According to nurburgringlaptimes.com, this makes the Camaro faster than a 2010 Porsche 911 GT2 RS, a 2013 Nissan GT-R, a 2012 Corvette ZR1 and a 2015 Ferrari 488 GTB.

I would also like to point out that two of those cars have dual-clutch gearboxes—something manufacturers and Fast People alike will tell us is just quicker than a manual gearbox.
Well, the ZL1 1LE’s lap time was set with a manual offering, so.
Anyway, I actually watched this entire lap. You should, too. And then remember that the Camaro ZL1 1LE can be had for about $70,000.

Assuming this one doesn't overheat at the sight of a race track (and it sounds like it won't), this is one hell of a product from GM.

The zl1 is godlike. That's something I never thought I'd say about a chevy, much less a camaro. Good job gm.
Also, the balls on that driver are fucking massive.

Chevy Camaro ZL1 1LE is too dangerous to be sold in Europe

2018 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE
Enlarge Photo

The 2018 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE is the most extreme sixth-generation Camaro we've seen yet. But, it's a little too extreme for Europeans.
During the most-recent episode of Motor Trend's "Ignition," we learn the 2018 Camaro ZL1 1LE and all of its track prowess won't be sold on the old continent. Unfortunately for Europe, the car absolutely flunks pedestrian safety standards. While a regular sixth-generation Chevrolet Camaro gets the OK, the ZL1 1LE fails thanks to its additional aerodynamic pieces.

2018 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE
Enlarge Photo

Chevrolet tacked on a massive front splitter, dive planes, and an even bigger front grille to increase aero, downforce, and cooling. These pieces apparently pose too much of risk for European pedestrians, and it will keep the car off of the continent's local roads.
It's a shame since Chevrolet has taken everything we loved about the fifth-generation Camaro Z/28 and amplified it with the excellent core competencies of the sixth-generation Camaro ZL1. Aside from the aero bits, there's a set of Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar 3R tires, Mutimatic's DSSV dampers, and a supercharged 650-horsepower V-8 engine.
The extra go-fast goodies are enough to scoot the 2018 Camaro ZL1 1LE around the Nürburgring in 7:16.04. The time makes it the quickest Chevrolet Camaro ever, and also quicker than some much more exotic cars. In fact, it's less than two seconds off the Lexus LFA Nürburgring Package and it nips at the Dodge Viper ACR's 7:12.13 time.
Unfortunately, its exercise around the 'Ring will be the only way a Camaro ZL1 1LE will make an appearance in Europe. For those in North America, $69,995 is the price to pay for one's own example. That's less than the fifth-generation Z/28 cost when it was new. Progress is a wonderful thing.
