The Kansas City Chiefs are finally signing one of their free agent visitors. Adam Caplan of ESPN reports that the Chiefs are signing TE Gavin Escobar to a one-year deal. Escobar visited Kansas City earlier today, according to Caplan.

This is an interesting move because Escobar seems to have all the physical talent in the world but the production hasnít been there. His best season is nine catches for 134 yards four years ago. He certainly looks the
Where does Escobar fit? I would say he is competition for Demetrius Harris. The Chiefs do like Harris evidenced by the three-year extension they gave him last year so I donít think itís a done deal that Harris is gone or anything or even if that Escobar makes the team.
Iím excited to see how he fits in and if the Chiefs can get the best out of him. There was a lot of talent coming out as a second round pick in 2013. Letís see what happens.

Chiefs release 2017 preseason schedule

The National Football League released its preseason schedule on Monday, and the Chiefs will travel to the West Coast for the second straight season.
The Chiefs will open the preseason at home against the San Francisco 49ers, followed by a road game against the Cincinnati Bengals. The Chiefs will then travel to Seattle for a nationally televised game against the Seahawks, which will be shown by CBS at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 25.

A year ago, the Chiefs also went to the West Coast for their third game of the preseason, when they traveled to Los Angeles to face the Rams.
The Chiefs will close the preseason at home against the Tennessee Titans. The exact date and time for that game, in addition to the contests against the 49ers and Bengals, will be released later.
The NFLís regular-season schedule likely will be announced soon as well. Last year, the NFL announced it in mid-April. The Chiefs already know that, in addition to their annual home-and-away slate against their AFC West foes, they will also have home games against the Bills, Dolphins, Eagles, Steelers and Washington and road games against the Cowboys, Texans, Patriots, Giants and Jets.
The NFLís preseason games will begin on Aug. 3 with the annual Hall of Fame Game in Canton, Ohio. This year, the Dallas Cowboys will take on the Arizona Cardinals at 7 p.m.

Andy Reid says Alex Smith isnít worried about other QBs, heís in ďphenomenal shape

I doubt Alex Smith was perusing Twitter on this offseason but if he were he would find the Kansas City Chiefs are doing a lot of work on quarterbacks. Theyíve met with just about every one of the top quarterbacks and the fans are talking. They want a quarterback.
Andy Reid spoke to the media on Monday and was asked about Alexís mindset with these quarterback questions swirling on the outside.
ďI donít think thatís a big deal to him,Ē Reid said. ďHeís long enough into his career to understand how this thing works. He also has a lot of confidence in his abilities, as we do. Thatís not where his mind is. His mind is getting back in and doing his film work from this past season. We had all the cut-ups ready for him to dissect and look at.Ē
Iím not worried about Alex at all. Heís probably not going to be much different than the guy heís been the last few years (and thatís not necessarily a bad thing). Sure, Chiefs fans want a new quarterback of the future but Alex is their best option in 2017. I still want another division title and a playoff game ... err, games.

ďHeís been on a six week workout program over in Hawaii,Ē Reid said. ďHeís in phenomenal shape right now.Ē
Mrs. Smith tweeted a picture of that Hawaii workout last year.

As for whether Alex has reason to worry and the Chiefs are actually going to draft a quarterback high this year, Big Red wouldnít bite.

ďI guess it depends how much you like the guy,Ē Reid said when asked about picking a guy high. ďThatís what youíd have to evaluate on it. Iím not doing it. Thatís not where Iím at right now. Thatís a good one to ask John (Dorsey). You get into the draft, anything is possible. I canít tell you thatís our No. 1 thing.Ē

A little bit of Kansas City Chiefs news on Monday with K Cairo Santos signing his restricted free agent tender. That means he will be paid roughly $1.8 million in 2017 - if he makes the team.

Chiefs schedule 2017: Dates, game times, future opponents, tickets and more

The Kansas City Chiefs 2017 NFL schedule is here! The biggest game is what you thought - Chiefs at Patriots for the NFLís season opener on Thursday night, September 7. The Chiefs will be Ďdogs but they will also likely be competitive.
Here is the Chiefs 2017 schedule, with LOTS of primetime games:
  1. at Patriots, 9/7, 7:30 pm, NBC
  2. Eagles, 9/17, 12pm, Fox
  3. at Chargers, 9/24, 3:25 pm CBS
  4. Redskins 10/2, 7:30 pm, ESPN
  5. at Texans, 10/8, 7:30 pm, NBC
  6. Steelers, 10/15, 3:25 pm, CBS
  7. at Raiders, 10/19, 7:25 pm, CBS/NFLN
  8. Broncos, 10/30, 7:30 pm, ESPN
  9. at Cowboys, 11/5, 3:25 pm, CBS
  10. Bye
  11. at Giants, 11/19, 12 pm, CBS
  12. Bills, 11/26, 12 pm, CBS
  13. at Jets, 12/3, 12 pm, CBS
  14. Raiders, 12/10, 12 pm, CBS
  15. Chargers, 12/16, 7:25 pm, NFLN
  16. Dolphins, 12/24, 12 pm, CBS
  17. at Broncos, 12/31, 3:25 pm, CBS

It looks like the Chiefs will have at least five national TV games ó the opener on NBC, MNF vs. Redskins, SNF at Texans, TNF at Raiders, MNF vs. Broncos and the Chargers on NFLN (Iím not sure if thatís nationally televised or not but itís at night).
The Chiefs have the second toughest schedule in the NFL, according to the strength of schedule. This is mainly because the AFC West was a powerhouse last season. The four toughest schedules in the NFL are Broncos, Chiefs, Chargers and Raiders ó all AFC West teams.

Related

The NFL schedule is formulaic in that we already know the Chiefs future schedule, for the most part. Each year the Chiefs play their divisional opponents twice so thatís six games. They also play one rotating NFC and AFC division each year for eight more games. The Chiefs then play the team that finished in the same spot as them in the two other AFC divisions. For example, the Chiefs are playing the AFC West and AFC East this year. They finished first in the division last year so theyíll play the first place AFC North team (Steelers) and first place AFC South team (Texans).

ugh, if preseason was pushed back by a week it would be PERFECT. We might be coming to KC in august. The Niners game is the weekend before we leave, and the Seahawks game we won't be back in PNW yet for.

The #Chiefs have indeed released Jaye Howard, a source confirms. @AdamSchefter had it first.

its odd timing for sure...

I have heard crazy rumors that could be crazy but true.

Chiefs trade #27 this year, #104 this year, next year's first round pick for

Jet #6 and Sheldon Richardson. Richardson only has 1 year left. Jets dump him and get $8 mil off the books too

Richardson has expressed his desire to play closer to Missouri.

Crazy idea, but it would be good for both teams.

Editorial: Chiefs parking will cost us how much?

Our collective jaw hit the ground last week when the Chiefs announced that game-day parking for some unsuspecting fans will be $60.

Sixty beans! We envisioned scores of Kansas City-area residents in their bright-red Chiefs sweatshirts parking along Raytown Road and hiking into the stadium en masse to avoid an outrageous fee like that.
Now, we understand that there’s a method to the madness here. The idea, team officials tell us, is to motivate fans to buy parking passes online before games for $30 or $35. That will speed entry into the stadium — by a factor of two, they say — and curtail those long backups that frustrate fans eager to get inside and root on Alex Smith and the boys.

Exchanging cash at parking entry points dramatically slows down the entire process. It adds to those long lines shortly before kickoff.
Still, we can’t help but think of the poor mom or dad out there who’s schlepping a child to a first Chiefs game and is unaware of the eye-popping price of admission. That will put a big damper on the experience.
Lots of Chiefs fans apparently already are navigating this new world order. That playoff game in January against the Steelers? About nine in 10 cars entering the lot paid in advance, the team said. For the 2016 regular season at Arrowhead, 78 percent bought in advance, up from 55 percent just one season earlier.
Fans appear to be getting the message.
Still, as fun as it is, the Arrowhead experience continues its rapid ascent into the financial stratosphere. The cost of attending a game these days has reached small-fortune status. According to the 2016 “Team Marketing Report” for the NFL, the cost of a game for four was $423.56. That includes four adult average-price tickets, two small draft beers, four small soft drinks, four regular-size hot dogs, two least expensive adult-size caps and parking. That represents a 7 percent bump from 2015.
We don’t know about you, but a hundred here and a hundred there, and pretty soon you’re talking about real money.
Costs like that knock out legions of Kansas City residents who simply can’t afford to walk into their taxpayer-supported stadium.
The good news? That $423.56 expense was the sixth-lowestamong the league’s 32 teams. The NFL average reached nearly $503 last year. The top of the toppermost? The Chicago Bears will ding you $685 for a game for four.
Charging what they charge for parking and everything else is clearly within the rules laid out in the team’s 2006 lease agreement with Jackson County. But let this be a word of warning to the uninitiated: Hang onto your wallet when entering the Chiefs Kingdom.

That makes more sense. Wonder if it was hip related or if he wasn't keeping up with rehab or something. Still wonder if a crazy trade happens.
