Default Something no biker wants to think about

Well yesterday started as a really good bike day. Went to the swap meet and didn't spend too much money. Ate some really good bbq (a new place in Independence), rode up to Excelsior Springs. In the way back to KC though it all went bad. A friend of a friend on a Road King was trying to keep up with us and laid his bike down. Long story short, went around a corner too fast, High centered on the exhaust and he ate it. Broke his spinal cord and they are thinking he won't walk again. Brought back some really bad memories. Keep it rubber side down!

Two points.

1. I love speed limits on rural roads. They are there for a reason. There is always gravel and dirt on the road.

2. Hustling cruisers is just a bad idea. Especially an 800lb bike.

I hope the guy pulls through with useable legs. Its a terrible way to learn a lesson though.

When I wrecked, had I not been wearing a back protector in my jacket, I may not be walking now. I don't ever go anywhere without jacket with full armor, gloves, helmet.

Maybe I need to get a better jacket. My current one just has some foam in the back, nothing crazy.

I've been slacking on gear since I broke the zipper in my icon jacket. I need to fix that, but, I'm going a hell of a lot slower these days

You can buy nicer armor for most jackets. It might be worth just getting a better quality spine protector to throw in your jacket, rather than just ditching the whole jacket.

Of course, that is an excuse to get new gear.

Just checked motorcycle closeouts and I can put in a better protector in my jacket. Going this weekend.

Sad news. Cruisers are not meant to go fast. Still sad.

Make sure it's the right type of protector. There are several shapes/sizes of back armor for jackets.

Well the guy that went down Sunday should make a full recovery in time.

With that being said, last night after the game some drunk hit my buddy. Long story short he lost one leg and might lose them both.
