Default Remote start on a '05 Subaru Legacy GT manual

I would like to have a remote start installed on my car. I had a guy in Wichita that I would go to but...I live up here now. He told me it's possible but tricky. Last year I had him install a remote start on my wife's car and because of that, I really want one now.

I'd like to get a price and pros/cons on this install if there are any. So who's the person to go to on this board?

go to best buy. if you buy the unit they will do an install for $120.00 I has a remote start on both on my manual cars, and it pays off during the winter months when it is too cold as balls to go outside and manually start a car to warm up.

just make sure your battery is fresh as your charging system/starter.

You guys do know that letting a car just sit idling slowly up to operating temps is kinda bad for the motor, right?

starting and driving a cold car before it reaches optimal operating temp is not good for the car.

Lol, no. You are wrong.

You are supposed to let it idle for. 1-2min max, then start driving it, but very gently and keeping. Rpms low until the oil is warmed up.

Letting it sit and idle for 10mins after a cold start means the oil is going to take a LONG ass time to warm up which means the longer it will stay in its thick state not being able to lubricate as well.

Pretty much anyone on here who isnt a dumbass will agree with me, hell it even states in some owner's manuals to avoid doing what you said.

Audi!=Subaru.

I just use the heated seats in my LGT, and it typically doesn't take that long for the engine to warm up.

I Admitt sti-lyn WAS RIGHT I WAS WRONG!!! seems this is extensively documented, usually with newer cars. I know for a fact that on the older rides they benefit better from some REASONABLE idiling times before just rolling off.

so I will keep idiling my shit boxes in the cold, at least till my windshields are visible. my carbon footprint is small enough that I can spare some c02

Give Tint World in Lenexa a call. http://www.tintworld.com/lenexa-ks-039/

They do a ton of remote starts. Tell them Wes sent you, and they will hook you up.
