Im still holding around $10k in ZERO

and some in COWI (it looks bad right at the moment). Hoping for another big pop very soon.

check out ZERO. They make and currently have a device that is put on oil pipelines. they signed an initial contract with Transcanada and have their device on the Rock pumping station outside wichita. If transcanada buys more your looking at a pretty nice share price increase, thats if someone doesn't buy the company before then.

if your looking to flip and make money quick MINE has been a printing press for me.

Meeting with my broker next Thursday. I'll see what his opinion is on it. I decided after much self anguish that I'll invest as much as I can every year. I had to think long and hard about how much a car part would benefit me. Versus a lot more money and more likely to have much more financial security later in life.

I'm much more interested in a long term investment in a few stocks in completely different areas of the market and always dividend payers. I think I will set a goal of around 10% APR. Taking more risks(20%ish) would likely cancel out compound interest in possible future losses.

Don't use a broker.
You should be able to learn this stuff on your own. Investing is not rocket science like many make it out to be be.
Trading is a completely different ballgame which I wouldn't recommend until you have a large amount invested so you can afford to potentially lose the money trading.

Others here might able to offer more on the trading side as it is not my expertise.

It's my dads broker. I don't think he is charging me anything. He is also a family friend who may end up giving me some good advice.

you are young, so you have time to be more aggressive with your investments. You have time to make up anything you loose. Don't be afraid to take a bit of a gamble.

Shit, I forgot to ask. I ended up buying two 'GOOG' Google stocks, 9 Exxon, 10 Qualcomm. Totaled around 3k. He said to expect to lose a bit initially.

Are you giving him the wrong idea?
I doubt all your assets are in penny stocks.
What % of your assets or NW are in actual penny stocks.

I know I'm in it for the long haul though. I probably will keep them for 10+ years.

my trading assets? 100% in penny or under $1 stocks (OTC market)

I don't mess with normal stocks right now.

I had for a while and found there to be more stability obviously, but a much lower chance to to make any real money, quickly.

with any investment there is risk obviously.

I keep my checking/savings account away from any stock market or bonds/mutual funds.

I put in $20k initially to trade with. I have made a decent amount the last 1 1/2 years and have invested my 401k in stocks too.

I pulled the initial investment out a while ago and am trading with free money right now.

im young enough to take risks.

So, I get employee stock options with Apple. What do you guys think after the 7-1 split? I can only use 10% of my paycheck, but it still gets me quite a few shares. I get it 15% below the market price that is at the beginning or end of the offering period, which is 6 months.

I have been considering AAPL too, but decided to wait a bit. You'll probably want to take the plunge before the iPhone 6 comes out. I'm pretty sure the stock will run again, well into the triple digits.
