It's really a vehicle by vehicle basis, some cars have enough power to get the HID ballast working so don't

Quote:
Some vehicles might be able to power up HID systems normally without problems at install time. It will probably not last long. The inrush load can be up to max 13 amps per ballast, compared to 7amps inrush when using halogen. The factory design parameters for headlight circuits are 7 amps inrush and 4.5 amps continuous load. So over time, connectors, multifunction switch, headlight switch, wiring and fuse holders will slowly degrade, because of heat buildup. These components are very time consuming to troubleshoot because they are usually well hidden behind dashboards and other wiring looms. Parts can cost several hundred dollars and add 8h labor to that and it becomes obvious that a $25 wiring harness is a cheap insurance.

Just a word of advice (the lights are "fine") the projectors inside could be questionable.

IMO: I would send them to a shop to get a beefier projector (IE: S2000/BMW) swapped into the housing

Lots of people on the vw forums have had zero problems with these headlights thats why I decided to finally bite the bullet and buy them over oem, oem are 1k a piece and take a lot of work to make work.

Well at least there are reviews, and maybe they put in a decent projector with the correct cut off for HID kits to work/look proper.

Everyone so far has had to aim there's just a little to be perfect but the overall consensus is very good. Everyone is using their own hid kits.
