Well done Chrysler...bar has just been raised. Yes, it looks like a ferrari/aston hybrid, but those are two of the best looking car brands on the planet. Interior looks amazing. Anyone else notice the tracks imprinted on the rubber inserts for the change holder and on the doors? Clever.

The INTERIOR is great, hopefully Chevrolet takes some notes of what an interior can and should be... I know the Corvette already had that on it's list for the C7 but the Viper's interior is amazing. The rear end looks good too... however I have to say the front end is unimpressive... looks like a Ferrari 550 Maranello and a charger had a baby...

I think it's just missing the arch in the fender/head light area. That's the part that throws me off. It looks awesome until you get to the mid hood area then it just flattens out.

It's refined but we where expecting that. I really like it and understand it's a different Viper. I still have a place in my heart for the "hardcore" GEN I/GEN II but it's not what people want. People want a refined car and they got it. And I have to admit it's not bad.

But until I make a crap load more money I will have to make due with my GTS

That GTS-R is amazing! The GTS looks good, but they should have an ACR road version of the race car.

Just sick

2013 SRT Viper looking fly in yellow?

We've already seen the production-ready 2013 SRT Viper. In fact, we named it Best In Show after it officially debuted at the 2012 New York Auto Show earlier this month. But what we haven't seen is the full color palette that will be offered, and our spy photographers recently caught a Viper prototype out testing sporting a fresh coat of yellow paint, as well as some new, more sedate wheels.

As for that color, we aren't sure how we feel about it just yet, granted, we'll want to see it in person and without all of the hastily bolted-together panel gaps of this prototype. Moreover, we'd like to see how the new SRT looks in a proper GTS white/blue paint job. Be sure to let us know what you think of the new yellow paint in the comments.

The don't-call-it-a-Dodge Viper officially launches this year, boasting 640 horsepower and 600 pound-feet of torque from its monstrous 8.4-liter V10. We're eagerly awaiting our first stint behind the wheel, but for now, this new batch of high-res photos will have to suffice.

It doesn't sound like two volvos racing down i35 anymore. awesome! The yellow... I hate, but love. I think it's fitting, but could never see myself driving or riding anything yellow. I almost bought a ducati 999, but it was yellow. Couldn't do it.

Back end looks like a viper, the front end looks more like a Ferrari.

Marchionne: Ferrari boss was ‘speechless’ after checking out the SRT Viper

Gallery - 16 images

If you leave the Chariman of Ferrari, Luca Cordero di Montezemolo, speechless after he checks out your newcar, you know you’re doing something right.

According to Chrysler CEO Sergio Marhchionne, after seeing the new 2013 SRT Viper, Ferrari’s di Montezemolo was ‘speechless.’

“I had the chairman of Ferrari down here for the board meeting last week and he had a chance to look at the car, and he was speechless,” Marchionne said in an interview with Detroit radio WJR-AM. “I mean, for Ferrari to admit that the car is a unique vehicle is a hell of a compliment to the work that’s gone on here. So I’m delighted. I mean, so far, knock on wood, we’re doing well.”
Ferrari and Chrysler are both owned by parent company Fiat and Marchionne is di Montezemolo’s boss.

Refresher: Power for the 2013 SRT Viper comes from an all-aluminum, mid-engine 8.4-liter V10 that makes 640 horsepower and 600 lb-ft of torque. The engine is mated to a Tremec TR6060 6-speed manual transmission with a shorter throw shifter, closer gear ratios and a final drive ratio that has been shortened to 3.55 from 3.07.

2013 SRT Viper to require dealer certification; hardcore model planned? [w/video]

On Thursday night's Autoline After Hours, SRT boss Ralph Gilles sat down with show hosts John McElroy and Peter DeLorenzo, along with Autoblog and AOL Autos staffers to talk all things Viper. Among the interesting tidbits disclosed about the 640-horsepower supercar are plans for a new dealer certification process designed to encourage the sort of purchasing, service and ownership experience that buyers of six-digit cars have come to expect.

According to Gilles:
Quote:
"It's going to be a qualified dealer situation... The ones who do the dealer training in terms of the tech. I want a tech. I want a display car. I want all these things. There's going to be a list. It's not going to be impossible, it's just that someone has to put in the extra effort and say 'I'm an SRT dealer.
Off the air, Gilles told Autoblog that Chrysler officials have already approached a number of dealers with a strong record of Viper and SRT sales to discuss how the certification process will work, gaining valuable feedback in the process. A document outlining the new certification program will go out to Dodge dealers next month.

Chrysler has yet to announce official pricing and the Viper won't go on sale until sometime in the fourth quarter of the year, but that hasn't stopped a queue of customer deposits from piling up. According to Gilles, one particularly strong Viper dealer already has around 90 such deposits in-hand. Considering that Viper sales averaged about 1,600 units in past years, that's a substantial figure.

In other news, Chrysler officials have been making a big point of talking about the 2013 Viper's newfound refinements, from reduced NVH to nicer interior materials and improved drivability thanks to the institution of technologies like stability control and traction control. Gilles says that great care has been taken to ensure the model's core personality still shines through, but given that much of the Viper's mystique is centered on its raw, leg-burning, hairy-knuckled persona, we couldn't help but wonder aloud if the new model's refinements have left room for a stripped-out hardcore version for Viper purists and racers. With raised eyebrows, arms gesturing wildly and stifling a smile, Gilles wryly said: "I love how you think. Next subject!"

SRT unveils 2013 Viper GTS Launch Edition

SRT has just surprised us with news that it will be making an appearance in Monterey this week with a special vehicle in tow. Taking its place among historic automobiles on the Concept Lawn at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance this weekend will be the 2013 SRT Viper GTS Launch Edition model, wearing the iconic GTS Blue paint and dual white stripes of prior Viper coupe launches from both 1996 and 2006.

The Viper GTS Launch Edition also features exclusive five-spoke polished forged-aluminum wheels that evoke, but also evolve, the wheel designs of those prior launch models. These special Vipers also get a serialized dash plaque placed inside their cabins to increase collectibility, and their interiors will be swathed in Black Laguna leather with contrast stitching. Production will be limited, but Chrysler has refrained from saying how many Launch Editions will be built.

Check out official images of the 2013 SRT Viper GTS Launch Edition in the gallery above, and stay tuned for our own live images of the car when we encounter it out in person at Pebble Beach.

SRT brand's flagship performance machine returns later this year with two new models – SRT Viper and SRT Viper GTS – both powered by all-aluminum, mid-engine 8.4-liter V-10 delivering 640 horsepower and 600 lb.-ft. of torque

August 16, 2012 , Monterey, Calif. - The Chrysler Group's Street and Racing Technology (SRT) brand will mark their first official appearance at the renowned automotive events in Monterey, Calif., this weekend with the unveiling of the new, limited-edition 2013 SRT Viper GTS Launch Edition model.

A sneek peak of the SRT flagship supercar will take place from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m Friday, Aug. 17, at the Quail Lodge as part of "The Quail: A Motorsports Gathering" event. Then on Saturday, Aug. 18, and Sunday, Aug. 19, the SRT Viper GTS Launch Edition will be displayed on the Concept Lawn at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance.

The 2013 SRT Viper GTS Launch Edition evokes memories of past Viper Coupe reveals in 1996 and 2006 with symbolic GTS Blue paint and dual Bright White stripes – exclusive to Launch Edition models – running the length of its all-new exterior that incorporates iconic Viper styling cues with a contemporary execution. The 2013 SRT Viper GTS Launch Edition carries on the tradition of special Viper model builds to the fifth generation of the American-built supercar with true performance enthusiasts and collectors in mind.

"Designed with Viper loyalists in mind, the 2013 SRT Viper GTS Launch Edition model brings back the classic paint schemes that have adorned all previous Viper coupe launches to help us celebrate the return of our brand's flagship performance machine to the supercar market," said Ralph Gilles, President and CEO – Street and Racing Technology Brand and Motorsports and Senior Vice President – Product Design, Chrysler Group LLC. "Our American-built supercar showcases the very best we have to offer by incorporating superior craftsmanship, the finest materials, a host of new technologies and ergonomic improvements while respecting its focus on outright performance."

In addition to its historically significant paint scheme, the wheels on SRT Viper Launch Edition models are a modern deep-section design, featuring a five-spoke polished forged-aluminum design. "Stryker" badges found on the hood and steering wheel add to the exclusivity, with a blue background replacing grey found on all other 2013 SRT Vipers models.

The new Stryker logo was named by owners who attended the 2010 Viper Owners Invitational event in Salt Lake City. Stryker marks the first new emblem for Viper since 2003 and the third incarnation of a Viper logo, following "Sneaky Pete" and "Fang."

Inside of the 2013 SRT Viper GTS Launch Edition, a serialized dash plaque further improves collectability by aligning the build sequence number to the vehicle identification number. Black Laguna leather with contrast stitching is found throughout, covering the seats, door trim, instrument panel, steering wheel, grab handle, shift knob and center console. Alcantara covers the headliner and white bezels are finished in Satin Silver.

Return of the 'Snake'
The 2013 SRT Viper and SRT Viper GTS models are set to return in fourth quarter of 2012 with more power and performance, superior craftsmanship, new technologies and creature comforts.

The all-aluminum, mid-engine 8.4-liter V-10 powerplant delivers 640 horsepower and 600 lb.-ft. of torque – the most torque of any naturally aspirated sports car engine in the world. Standard safety features include electronic multistage stability control, traction control and new 4-channel antilock brake system (ABS)

An all-new carbon-fiber and aluminum skin is sculpted for high-speed stability and a slippery .364 drag coefficient. Chassis enhancements bring 50 percent improvement in torsional stiffness, while triple-digit weight reduction results in a Viper best power-to-weight ratio.

The 2013 SRT Viper models feature timeless exterior designs incorporating iconic Viper styling cues with a contemporary execution. All-new, innovative interior designs set new standards with premium materials, new technologies and superior craftsmanship.

SRT Brand Presence in Monterey
In addition to showcasing the new 2013 SRT Viper GTS Launch Edition during the weekend, the SRT brand will have an expanded new vehicle display at the Quail Lodge on Friday, Aug. 17, along with additional displays and interactive fan activities at the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion at Laguna Seca Raceway from Aug. 17–19 and the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance from Aug. 16-19.

About SRT
The Chrysler Group's Street and Racing Technology (SRT) brand uses a successful product development formula featuring five proven hallmarks: awe-inspiring powertrains; outstanding ride, handling and capability; benchmark braking; aggressive and functional exteriors and race-inspired and high-performance interiors to remain true to its performance roots.

The expansion of the SRT vehicle lineup in the 2012 model year features four new products that are world-class performance contenders and bring the latest in safety technologies and creature comforts. These products include the Chrysler 300 SRT8®, Dodge Challenger SRT8 392, Dodge Charger SRT8 and Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8.

Making its highly anticipated return to the high-performance sports car market in late 2012 is the new 2013 SRT Viper and SRT Viper GTS. The SRT flagship performance machines arrive with more power and performance, superior craftsmanship, new technologies and creature comforts.
