What's the trail that runs from ~123rd and Mission heading west? How far does it go?

Do they make city maps w/ bike trails marked?

Plenty to ride around Lawrence...

River Levee: Miles of flat crushed gravel with decent scenery and awesome sunsets..

River Trail: 9 mile loop of fast flowing hard pack single track. Fun for people of all skill levels and my favorit ride in the area....

Clinton Lake trails: Many miles of much more technical terrain. White and blue trails for different skill levels. Good climbs and decents with lots of rocks a roots. I've only been out a few time and always end up falling numerous times, but it's pretty rewarding to get through the hairy areas in one piece...lol

I hear Lake Perry state park has some great trails too but haven't made it out yet.

Little Blue Trail in Independence is a great trail if you just want some exercise. Nice chat trail running parallel to Little Blue River starting out at O'charleys off of I70/Little Blue Parkway and ending at the other end of Independence. I try to ride it alot during the summer.

If you're talking about the paved paths, here's a link of all them in the JOCO.

I grew up right at 123rd and Mission. It'll take you all the way to the park just south of 103rd and Roe. I've never ridden it past that so I don't know if it goes further. Its a fully paved trail though, no dirt.

Goes out to Olathe past 151st, Going the other way it goes into Missouri, I'm not sure how far though.

EA, Next time you are at SMPark stop by that building when you first pull in (visitors center?) and they have a map of all the trails in JOCO.
http://jcprd.com/parks_facilities/trailguide.cfm this is ok also

www.swopetrails.com
... these are top notch cross country trails, few people put in ALOT of time getting everything perfect, so make sure you respect the trails. Not all trails are open, and if you want to ride the ones that are under construction, you need to participate in a work day... not easy work, but I can assure you its worth it.

  • Minor Park
  • Lawrence River Trails
  • Clinton Lake & surrounding trail network
  • Shawnee Mission Park (obviously)
  • Randolph KS (Out near K-State, there's some freeride trails)
  • Landahl Park (MO), My personal favorite for the area
There's quite a decent array of trails to ride.

I'm not sure what your style is, but I know there's even more to ride north of Topeka out at that lake. (Forgive me, I forget the name of it... it's the major lake north of Topeka KS though)

Go enjoy. The weather is definitely warm enough.

minor park, landahl park are awesome courses too ride...... they have spots that are just dirt or they have little spots where you can ride off the beaten path and play in the single track trails and can be pretty challenging....

Haven't seen any mention of Kill Creek Park, yet. they have two trails, one similar to SMP and one that is more advanced, includes creek crossing and downed trees, etc.

Smithville Lake has mountain bike (and paved trails?)

Lake Perry (Perry, KS) has an ATV area with trails I've ridden my dirtbike at plenty of times.

Blue Springs lake has a decent single track trail. Nothing compared to landahl but if you live in the area its a nice change up.

I've been riding Wyco lake's trails a lot lately...tonight was the most fun I've ever had on a bicycle. Period. Lost track of time and where I was and rode for over two hours.

Fast, smooth, and some technical sections...nothing overwhelming though and much preferred over SMP.

I will have to look into this, as I have been wearing out the SMP trails. (mainly due to how close they are to home) But looking for a change of pace.

Same here. I'm right by Ogg road. SMP is a blast, and by no means, I'm not bashing their system and the hard work put into it, but Wyco is a totally different experience. Here's a current map. It's not really easy to get lost, but I've done it close to dark my first time out.

The main trailhead is at the Shelter 9 road or the one that leads to where the boy scout canoes and stuff are. Ride around the damn and park where those two parallel roads are on the map, then pick a trail. I've been starting at 33 and riding around that peninsula and ending up at 14/15, then to 32. That's a fun loop I've rode twice. I'll be out there tonight.

Tried out Wyco and SMP on my new Rockhopper 29er I picked up.

SMP was a lot more fun than my first time out a year or two ago on a dual sport bike with 700c tires. The 29er made the trail so much more enjoyable. I just rode the orange loop a couple times and it was great however there was a decent amount of traffic, both hikers and other bikers.

Wyco was fantastic. I met a couple bikers at the trailhead and since it was my first time they offered to show me around. I definitely could felt like it was much harder to navigate than SMP but the trails were fantastic. Much more free flowing than SMP. Will definitely be heading back soon.

If anyone is interested in getting a novice MTB ride together I'd be down.

Just found out about Line Creek Trail in the northland. It stretches from Argosy casino to Tiffany Springs. I've only walked a section of it (NW 68th St to Barry Rd) but it's mostly all paved.
