Default Speaker and amp upgrade...now what sub?

Just ordered new speakers and a new amp to push them.

Polk Audio dxi650 6.5 coaxials (rear)
Polk audio dxi6500 6.5 components (front)
Kenwood XR-5S 5 channel amp

Now, I'm not looking to win contests or let everyone know what I have but would like to "feel" my music and enjoy it.

Mostly listen to Hard/alt rock, dubstep, and some hip hop.

What kind of sub and type of enclosure would fit me best?

It's been years since I've messed with systems. When MTX Blue Thunders and the 6-8000s were just coming out is when I "left the audio" world if that gives you an idea. Lol

Leaning towards a single 10" or 12".
I have factory flee floating 8"s now, might keep them or ditch them depending on how everything comes out.

For that amp in that power range I'd check out the JL 12W3v3-4. Great sounding sub, doesn't require a huge box, it is the starting point of the JL subs to be built in the USA.

Thanks man. I've been looking at the JL line.
It should hit decent with that amp I would guess.

Should I get a 2ohm or 4 ohm sub, single or dual voice coil?

They have the 3w3v12-2 and the 3w3v12-4, which one would be better suited for my amp?

I also my be upgrading my sub amp if it doesn't hit as hard as I need it to.

Doesn't matter. That amp does 350 rms at 2 or 4 ohms. It'll run a tick warmer at 2 ohm but nothing to be concerned with.

Just ran across a deal of (2) Kicker CVR 12s and a Kenwood 9105D 1800 watt amp
It came in a huge ported box (maybe 4.5 cu ft) i wont use this box.

Now trying to find a sealed box to my size preference and tuning.

Kenwood amp crapped out upon installation. (5th chan sub RCA connection was loose/bad connection)

Upgraded to Phoenix Gold RX600.5 and Audison Bit Ten D DSP.

Installed one of the Kickers in a sealed 1.15 cu ft box with a pound of polyfil.

128.1 db. Not bad.

Having a custom box built for two 10"s and selling the kickers with Kenwood amp. The 12" is a "bandaid" for now.

Ended up with two ES 250s in a custom box tuned to 32hz.
