Default 12v Non-Contact Volt Meter?

nvm - I forgot that DC doesn't emit the necessary electric field for the non-contact to read... hence why this isn't a thing.

Hoping this thread gets some eyeballs despite the lack of traffic for the section...

basically I wired up a stereo on a jetski and it worked for 2 summers but now I can't get the radio to work. I've run the positive from the battery to a switch, and it looks like the switch went bad so I've ordered a new one but I'm wondering if I can't pickup a non-contact voltmeter that would work with a 12v system to help investigate further since when I disconnected the positive from the switch and 'direct' connected the positive line back to the battery by putting the two "push" ends (the kind that slide over the posts on the back of the switch), nothing happened/worked still. it could be the shitty Pyle brand amp I bought gave out as well but with no exposed wiring running between the amp and the switch its harder to test without a n-c voltmeter

it seems like a non-contact voltmeter for car audio would be really helpful in finding grounded wires, etc so I would imaging that they're a thing but I'm not coming up with much on Amazon or Google.

any suggestions would be appreciated as I'd like to not have to travel back and forth to the Ozarks trying to solve this one step at a time (and I'd rather not rewire the system either...)
Our progress in degeneracy appears to me to be pretty rapid. As a nation, we began by declaring that ”all men are created equal.” We now practically read it “all men are created equal, except negroes” When the Know-Nothings get control, it will read “all men are created equal, except negroes, and foreigners, and Catholics.” When it comes to this I should prefer emigrating to some country where they make no pretence of loving liberty -- to Russia, for instance, where despotism can be taken pure, and without the base alloy of hypocricy. - Lincoln
