This isn't a trick: we're releasing our first-ever cider. Made using Missouri apples, this crisp, dry, and slightly sweet seasonal release starts hitting shelves in a couple weeks. More details on this new fall treat: http://blvd.ly/2zUklgF

Making sure it's dry is what will get me to try this. Too sweet and it's a no go for me.

Bought the Bundle Up Barleywine a couple weeks ago. Was the worst Barleywine I have had so far. Not much flavor or complexity compared to what I have had. Will not buy again unless they change it up drastically.

I had the cider at the beer hall a few weeks back and it was good. Crisp, and definitely not sweet like most of the ciders out there

Grabbed a 4 pack this morning at 8am. Pretty tasty stuff. It's the same line as the Requiem for a Pancake was.

4-packs of City Market Cider start hitting shelves in Kansas City today, and we're excited to share that, just in the nick of time, we received independent, third party analysis confirming that it meets the standard (below 20 parts per million) to be defined as a gluten-free product!
Here's more info about our first-ever cider, in case you missed it: http://blvd.ly/2zUklgF

Sure, finding out how much time we spent streaming TV/movies is interesting (and scary), and lists of our top music are eye-opening (THAT was my most played song?), but what about our other major pastime, beer drinking? Well, we crunched some numbers for 2017 and have concluded that everyone was THIRSTY. Keep it up in 2018.

BEER ME, SEYMOUR. A marriage of dark malts and citrusy, floral hops, Flora Obscura Dry-Hopped Porter first sprouted up as a test beer in our Beer Hall, but now blossoms into a brand new seasonal offering. Look for it in six-packs of 12oz bottles and on draft starting next week.

We heard your calls for an encore, so the band is getting back together. Jam Band, a harmonious blend of blueberry, red raspberry, and tart cherry, returns to the lineup as our newest year-round beer, available on draft and in six-packs of 12oz cans starting early February.

New canning line and feeling fine. If you can't tell, a lot has happened since October, when we last shared progress on our canning line expansion project. Over these next couple months we'll add all the finishing touches, do test runs on the equipment and before you know it, fresh cans will be rolling off this line and into your hands!

Is this your jam? Boulevard Brewing has a new year-round berry beer

Boulevard Brewing Co.’s new beer should hit a high note with fruit fans.
Jam Band Berry Ale, the latest year-round release from the Kansas City brewery, gets its sweet-tart flavor from blueberries, raspberries and tart cherries. The beer pours into KC-area bars on Feb. 5 and liquor stores on Feb. 6. And soon it will be available across Boulevard’s 39-state territory.

Boulevard Brewing Co.’s new Jam Band Berry Ale will be available in six-packs in Kansas City stores starting Feb. 6.

The ruby-colored brew is made by blending in berry and cherry juice at the end of fermentation. According to Boulevard, Jam Band also boasts notes of melon and citrus, so it should be a refreshing pick on a warm spring day.

On deck for the 2018 season: ¡Vamos! Mexican-Style Lager. Brewed in collaboration with the Kansas City Royals, look for ¡Vamos! 6-packs and kegs to slide into the Royals viewing network starting in early March, and on draft at Kauffman Stadium while supplies last. Let’s go!

Boulevard Grand Cru Coming 3/6

We brought you a peek, and now this from Boulevard:
Given the dedication to our barrel-aging program, the love we have for blending and the tremendous time we had creating Collaboration No. 6 – Barrel-Aged Blend with our beer brothers and sisters from Firestone Walker Brewing Company back in 2016, we’ve decided the time is right to release a barrel-aged blend of our own. Beginning on March 6th, Grand Cru will be released in 750ml bottles and four-packs of 12oz bottles in the Greater Kansas City Area with other regions to follow in the coming weeks.
Grand Cru, a term that brewers have borrowed from vintners for years, literally translates to “great growth,” but has come to be used to represent a special blend or a release that is of the highest quality. To create our Grand Cru, brewers selected lots of Bourbon Barrel Quad and a double mashed imperial stout aged in freshly-emptied whiskey barrels to express the most distinctive elements of each beer, creating a delicious whole that’s even greater than the sum of its parts.
Grand Cru is composed of these component beers:
Whiskey Barrel-Aged Double Mashed Imperial Stout – 60%
A slightly bigger, stickier version of the base beer used to create
Whiskey Barrel Stout, this component beer was aged for 18 months in first-use whiskey barrels to impart strong notes of vanilla, charred oak and warming whiskey to an imperial stout featuring a complex blend of caramel, roasted and chocolate malts.
Alcohol by Volume – 15.6%
IBUs – 50
Color – 282 EBC

Bourbon Barrel Quad - 40%
Based loosely on the Smokestack Series’ The Sixth Glass, this abbey-style quadrupel is separated into a number of oak bourbon barrels where it ages for varying lengths of time, some for up to three years. Cherries are added to make up for the angel’s share of beer lost during barrel-aging. Selected barrels are then blended for optimum flavor. The resulting beer retains only very subtle cherry characteristics with toffee and vanilla notes coming to the fore.
Alcohol by Volume – 11.2%
IBUs – 26
Color – 74 EBC

Flavor Profile
Aroma – Caramel, vanilla, whiskey, oak
Malt – Chocolate, toffee, espresso
Hops – Minimal, supporting balance
Balance – Whiskey barrel character, malt
Body – Full

Characteristics
Alcohol by Volume –13.7%
IBUs – 27
Color – 110 EBC

Pairings
Smoked cheeses, leg of lamb, tiramisu, Foie Gras au Torchon, bread pudding, a comfy leather chair

Tasting Room 80 Shilling and Dry-Hopped Helles Coming To Boulevard Sample Twelve

From Boulevard:

February 2018 brings yet another rotation to our Sample Twelve pack featuring two year-round beers and two brand new beers from our Tasting Room. Created to allow our brewers the chance to experiment with new styles, recipes, ingredients and processes, the line of Tasting Room beers also gives Boulevard fans the chance to try beers that were previously only available in our Tasting Room or Beer Hall. Joining year-round favorites Pale Ale and Single-Wide IPA will be Tasting Room 80 Shilling and Dry-Hopped Helles.
Our take on a classic Scottish style, 80 Shilling falls near the middle of a family beers typically categorized using the “shilling system.” Light chestnut in color, Tasting Room – 80 Shilling opens with toasty/biscuity malt aromas provided by Simpson’s Maris Otter and Crystal Light layered with Dingeman’s Amber 50. Flavors of the same present in a light to medium bodied beer with subtle, lingering malt sweetness punctuated by just enough bitterness from Magnum hops. European malt and Scottish yeast take center stage in this super sessionable ale.
Alcohol by Volume – 4.1%
IBUs – 25
Color – 40 EBC

First brewed in May of 2016 and tweaked for Beer Hall service again in September of 2017, Tasting Room – Dry-Hopped Helles leaves the brewery for the first time after garnering tons of fans and becoming an end of day favorite for Boulevardians. A fairly traditional interpretation of a German-style Helles (literally translated: pale in color), European pilsner and Munich malt combine with Hallertau Blanc (bittering), Saaz (flavor/aroma) and Mandarina Bavaria(flavor/aroma & dry-hopping) to create an incredibly soft, light bodied pale lager that boasts flavors of sweet, honey-like malt balanced by herbal, spicy, fruity hop notes suggestive of subtle citrus and tangerine. Quite dry, Tasting Room – Dry-Hopped Helles begs for another sip and proves difficult to set down.
Alcohol by Volume – 5.6%
IBUs – 35
Color – 12 EBC
Tasting Room – 80 Shilling and Dry-Hopped Helles will be available exclusively in our Sample Twelve pack and on draft in the Beer Hall in our Tours & Rec Center. A few kegs might make it out for special events and festivals, but you should not expect to see these beers as a regular draft in bars and restaurants.

Boulevard Won’t Announce a 2018 Release Calendar

Interesting news from Boulevard:

While we’ve typically shared the next year’s release calendar at the end of the previous year, we’ve made the decision to move away from that practice this year and moving forward. While we enjoy operating at the highest level of transparency possible to give our loyal fans the most and best information we can, we’ve found that in the interest of doing so, it’s possible that we’ve rushed ourselves in committing to beers and release dates while potentially sacrificing the ability to remain nimble and react to emerging trends and requests from beer drinkers.
Beginning in 2018, we’ll no longer share a full calendar of beers with forecasted release dates. Instead, we’ll tell the story of each beer as we conceive, brew, package and taste it (at several steps along the way, of course). We feel this shift in thought will allow us the time and opportunity to truly focus our attention on each beer as it comes our way from both a brewing and production standpoint as well as a sales, marketing and distribution approach. Taking the most time possible with each individual beer allows us to tighten our focus on making the absolute best beers we can while delivering optimal experiences for loyal beer drinkers. For return limited release and seasonal beers, we’ll add a general release period to each beer’s profile on our website noting the season in which you’ll typically see the beer on shelves and draft walls.
