I wore it today, I have already gotten quite a few compliments. I bought it online, so didn't know what to expect for quality. I put it up with the best I've had. I am quite impressed!

Got a question for all the watch experts. My little nephew asked for a watch for Christmas this year so I figured i'd get him one. He's only 15 so he doesn't need an expensive watch for his first one. Hes been looking at fossils so I was wondering what peoples thoughts were on them for a first watch?

http://www.fossil.com/en_US/shop/men...agePath=FS4552

That's the watch he's been talking about, thoughts on it?

I'm also open to other "fashion automatics" I'll look into the previous brands mentioned during my lunch break. I don't see myself ever spending over $1500 on a watch and resale value isn't all that big of a deal mostly because I'm not much of a reseller.

Fossils aren't bad for their price point, either. I would buy the one he has been talking about.

It's my recommendation to all the watch-lovers or persons at least interested in watches to save some money and get something of decent quality and something you really want. I started with a couple of fashion watches but I never wear them anymore. It's the watches with the best build quality and hard-earned money spent on them that get the most wrist time.

My Christmas consisted of 2 new watches, both Citizens.

This ones getting a blue leather strap to hopefully set it off a little more. This will get A LOT of use, as I've already started wearing it every day. Love the look, and feel of it.

I'm satisfied with them so far. Just starting to get more into watches so it should be fun to mess around with these.

Wes, where would you recommend getting new bands at? I'd like to keep the price <$30. Found one I'll probably order through Amazon, but would be nice to have some recommendations for future use.

at that price point, Amazon is your best bet.

Well, I don't usually post pictures of my belongings, but I put it in the "post something cool" thread. If anyone is interested, I may be trading or selling in the next few weeks. Not a great pic by any means.

Why are you getting rid of it? My wife just bought me one for passing my PE exam. It's a great watch so far.

Not real sure why. I have had it for 9 months and am ready for something different?

I actually haven't made up my mind completely, but have been looking at some vintage GMT's recently. I tend to like the ones that you don't see everyday.

You won't see the Milgauss very often. I was pretty surprised when I saw you post that you owned one. It's not like you have a sub like many other folks. I got my eyes set on a SDDS for my next watch.

Congrats on passing the PE! I can only hope my wife is so generous when I take it in a couple years.

I never thought to look at what my father's Rolex ran him until I was looking through this thread a second time.

Thank you very much! I was a little worried going into the exam because I didn't study much but I guess all the practical experience I gained in the work force really is important.

Start dropping hints now about your reward.

On another note, I used to own a 92 Prelude S and a 94 Prelude Si. I enjoyed those cars.

The SDDS is an awesome watch. I currently only have a Submariner (green ceramic). I really miss my GMTIIC and Panerai 112.

Yeah, that's $30-35k LOL.

Any pics? The YG YM is a great looking watch. Not sure if I've seen one with a mother of pearl dial, though!

I never realized he was wearing an automobile on his wrist. Next time I see him I will snap a couple photos.

I have wasted way too much time on watch forums the past couple days. I need to worry about obtaining a 911 Turbo before a Rolex.

Haha! Yeah, check out Luxury4play's watch forum. Some sick, sick pieces have been posted and discussed. A good bunch of guys, too. I am actually wanting a 997 Turbo for my next car. In due time.

Haha, I think my favorite precious metal Rolex would be a the WG Submariner. It's one of those watches that a passerby would think was a SS Sub unless they were in the know.

My Citizen Promaster of about 20 years finally died. I had it serviced with new battery, crystal and seals three years ago and it stopped working a year or so ago. Just didn't want to drop a bunch of $$ on it again so have been wearing my beater work watch. For Christmas my wife told me to get something but she had no idea what I'd like. Since cash has been very tight, I kept myself on a very strict limit and decided on an Edifice from Casio. Seems their online catalogs offer different watches depending which continent you click on. This one showed in the Asian but not on North American. Got it off ebay for $95 shipped. All the reviews of owners of similar models were nothing but great. It at 48.5 mm dwarfs my Citizen, but I love a big watch. Got it today in the mail, dropped a few links from the band and it feels great. When cash gets plentier in the future, will probably get the Citizen fixed, still love that watch.

The new Edifice by Casio.

The Edifice next to the 20+ year old Citizen Promaster.
