I would guess they'd fire on South Korea first. It doesn't sound like the United States wants to get involved unless South Korea gets in trouble.

I'd hate for this situation to turn into another Iraq (a war that people thought would take 10 minutes that instead takes years).

While I don't think they're stupid enough to pull the trigger, they would most certainly fire on U.S. Military bases in SK first. Even if they had the capability of sending a long range attack to HI or the mainland, our anti missile defenses would eliminate it quickly and they'd basically have signed a death wish from everyone in the world.

NK without a doubt would fire on US bases in SK. We are a sizeable military force that will NOT just sit there while the North pushes South.

Stat to keep in mind: NK can drop about 500,000 arty shells/rockets on Seoul in an hour.

Oh on a side note I looked at Guam on google maps and there were 26 F16's, 2 F15's, 12 B52's and I looked 3 months ago and there was a B2 that has now been photo shopped out!

On Okinawa there are 14 B52's Some F22's and some F15's.

So NK is fucked if they start some shit!

We wont need F-22s to take out the outdated NK air force. From what I read 1/3 of their planes cant fly due to lack of fuel. Other than some 80s era Mig-29s as their top of the line fighter what can they throw at us?

The war did take 10 minutes relatively speaking. The occupation and nation building took years.

Difference is SK is a very very developed country and would welcome the new territory to grow into. Basically we'd give it all to SK and make it just Korea. At least in my opinion of best outcomes. Dont see why in the hell we'd kick the fuck out of the fat kid and then give him his ball back.

I know the B2 has 2 rotary bomb bays and can pick and choose what it wants to drop, and the training mission round trip from Missouri to SK was covered a lot on the news with emphasis put on "only caring dummy ordnance"

Idk it was a bad off topic post.

We have a vested interest in the ROK, and imo this was just part of Foal Eagle going on as well as maybe a little flex in muscle on our part

NK has had troops in place for decades. Same with the South. Next move is waiting for the arty to start falling.

I wouldn't worry to much about the North's air but would get very interesting w/ their AA.

So we have anti-missile defense here in the US? Meaning if someone were to fire a nuke from another country we would be able to destroy it in the air? Sorry, I am not up to date with the US military.

Correct. Granted, they also need to be able to get it across the ocean, more than 5k feet in the air before it blows up.

Doesn't matter. There is at least one submersible in range with enough nuclear power to level their entire country. The B2s was an excellent demonstration showing the disparity of power. They can barely make a nuclear device and have no long range capabilities, not even an old school ballistic missile. So the US loaded a few long range stealth aircraft to jog over and shit in their backyard. This war would be over in no time. A handful of teams and a series of air strikes could wrap this up in weeks. The south would be happy to clean up and would need minor assistance to stabilize the north.

Lots of ocean around the US. Satellites can detect a rockets launch signature and trigger a response. Especially in targeted hot zones where assets are in place the threat would be neutralized likely before it made it out of the attacking countries own border. Worst case scenario they drop a warhead from space that doesn't have a launch or heat signature. If you ask me this is the reason NK had a sudden interest in satellites. A missile has little chance of success.

I'm all for getting NK taken out, the unfortunate part would be all the lives lost of civilians who probably don't buy into all the BS but can't get out of the country.

How strong is the SK military?

Stronger than people want to give them credit for

And now we've deployed F-22s to the region. This thing is getting interesting.

No, the stealths fly from Whiteman and do round trip non-stop flights. No need to keep them anywhere near there. Im sure they did have some live ordinance as a just in case type thing but no need to use it right now.

Mainly because of this post below....

Exactly. The fleet off the coast out there is more than capable of leveling that country many times over. Even the non-nuclear capabilities of the units we have at see out there would have huge impacts on NK.

Like has been said, all of this is just posturing and showing NK they are messing with the wrong people. They dont care though because they are so brainwashed they think their shit is better than anything else out there.

The war games are getting people a little more spun up because of the rhetoric from the north recently but dont think it will amount to much right now.

My concern is how would china respond to a US attack on NK? Would they in turn eliminate SK and try to occupy the country? If they made a move it would change the situation quickly. I haven't followed Chinese stance on US relations during this, but personaly I don't trust them.
