Unhappy Heartland Park Street Legal Nights

Has anyone been going to Heartland Park on Fridays for Street Legal/Test-n-Tune night? I've been out a couple times and the track has been super slick. I don't know if it was due to the cold, or if they don't bother prepping it for non-competition. My drag radials hooked fine at KCIR (and on the street), but now I guess I need to get slicks. Otherwise, there's no point for me to go back until I can actually floor it in first gear again.

I think they do minimal prep on TNT nights, then you get assholes that drive their radial tire civics straight through the fucking water, drag that shit out, and can't burn their tires. Pointless to try to hook when their are 20 idiots ahead of you fouling it up for the few that actually know what their doing.

Yeah, another thing I noticed was people would take their bone stock new cars up to the line not warmed up, and they would puke a lot of water out of the tailpipes on launch. The track guy would try to mop it up, but that did little good.

...I wonder if they would let me spray my own Trackbite...?

I've ran a few of my dad's cars and so has he, on TNT night out there and never had a problem spinning with a 9 second car.

Maybe it's the cold, maybe it's the idiots dragging water up. Maybe it's too early in the season for them to care?

Maybe try emailing someone at HPT and asking them about it? Maybe if they see some interest they will start doing, at least, minor prep work?

The Drag Strip at Heartland Park is fully prepped for the Street Legal / Test n Tunes each time, we also will usually move street tire cars just outside of the groove on the start line to help preserve the integrity of the launch area for drag slicks. our next Street legal / Test n Tune will be on May 24th, entry is $25 for car and driver, $12 for adult spectators. Don't forget your helmets if you plan on running quicker that 14 seconds. Also if going slower than 14 seconds you are allowed to have a passenger with you. We look forward to seeing you all out at the track!

Everytime I've been to the street legal drags it's been slicker than shit. I was actually told I could not run without an NHRA license, which I think kind of defeats the purpose of a street legal/stop street racing type event. I have a hard time supporting NHRA for a variety of reasons and refuse to get a license to run 2-4 times a year.

It was slick when I went a couple weeks ago. Launch was on me, but I can't hit second hard at all. Just spins like hell.

Interesting. It looks like I'm not the only one with traction problems there.

It's going to cost me over $600 to move from drag radials to Hoosier Quick Time Pro DOT tires and tubes. Ouch. Maybe I'll just stick to the back roads with stevo8 where my BFGs hook just fine.
