The Kansas City Chiefs won’t negotiate a contract with defensive lineman Chris Jones until he returns to the team, according to a new report from NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. Jones was not at mandatory minicamp Tuesday and has not been present at any offseason workouts since the offseason program began on April 15.

The difference now is the workouts are mandatory and those absent are subject to a fine.

The Chiefs have signed standout OT Mitchell Schwartz to a one-year extension through 2021, per his agent @MikeMcCartney7.

Schwartz, 30, is entering his eighth NFL season — the last three with the Chiefs. In 2018, he was named a first-team All-Pro. Pro Football Focus gave him a stellar grade of 83.6 for the season — the highest of his career — and named him their Offensive Lineman of the Year.
According to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport, Schwartz’ extention is worth $11.26 million, and makes him the second-highest paid right tackle in the NFL.

The #Chiefs are giving RT Mitchell Schwartz a 1-year extension worth $11.255M, source said, making him 2nd highest paid RT. That’s essentially his signing bonus, too. Accordingly, Schwartz’s 2019 and 2020 season (he did an extension with both years left) are fully guaranteed.

Rapoport says that under new deal, Schwartz’ 2019 and 2020 salaries are fully guaranteed.
Drafted out of California in the second round (37th overall) by the Cleveland Browns in 2012, he was an immediate starter. He has now started 112 consecutive games — every game with every team for which he has played.
But it doesn’t end there. Schwartz hasn’t even missed a snap in those seven seasons. Per Pro-Football-Reference, Schwartz has now played 7,386 consecutive regular-season snaps — the longest active streak in the league. His former Browns teammate Joe Thomas has the unofficial NFL record with 10,363.
With his new contact extension, Schwartz is now positioned to eclipse Thomas’ record as a member of the Chiefs — and as his brother Geoff Schwartz noted in an SBNation article last summer, it would be an impressive feat to break it.

The #Chiefs signed their kicker Harrison Butker to a contract extension, locking him in on a 5-year deal worth roughly $20M, source said. He’s on the books for 6 years total. Not bad for a player signed off the #Panthers practice squad

The Kansas City Chiefs waived linebacker Gary Johnson, tackle Justin Senior and running back James Williams, according to the NFL’s official transaction report. The Chiefs will replace one of those vacant spots by signing tight end Neal Sterling, as first reported by Dov Kleiman.

Chiefs WR Tyreek Hill Reportedly Expected to Be at Training Camp

We finally have a substantial update on the status of Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Tyreek Hill.

According to the latest report, he's expected to be at training camp after NFL officials held a lengthy and thorough interview with him on Wednesday.

Hill is still being investigated by authorities for a battery incident involving himself, his fiancee and his three-year old son.

The Chiefs released a statement earlier in the year expressing their concern for the situation and making it clear that Hill would not participate in any team-related activities until the situation was resolved.

Things weren't looking great for the receiver around the time of the NFL Draft, as the Chiefs traded up and drafted the dynamic receiver Mecole Hardman, who most assumed would be Hill's replacement.

The news doesn't come as a surprise, as most pundits assumed Hill would appear at camp given the trajectory of the investigation.

Hill has remained firmly in his claim that he never touched his son, and audio recordings of the situation do its part to both support and reject that claim. Regardless, Hill even being in this situation to begin with is inexcusable.

Still, the Chiefs have a decision to make regarding the controversial behavior of Hill and the conflicting stories regarding this particular incident.

The NFL announced Friday that it "cannot conclude" that Kansas City Chiefs receiver Tyreek Hill violated the league's Personal Conduct Policy. The decision clears the way for Hill to return to the Chiefs’ training camp and participate in all club activities. #ChiefsKingdom The Kansas City Chiefs

--UPDATE--

Statement from the Kansas City Chiefs on WR Tyreek Hill:

"We have been informed of the decision by the National Football League that, based on the available evidence, the league has not found that Tyreek Hill violated the NFL’s Personal Conduct Policy. Based on the information provided to us by the league, we have decided it is appropriate for Tyreek to return to the team at the start of training camp. The club fully supports the conditions for return laid out by the league and will continue to monitor any new developments in the case. We are glad to welcome Tyreek back to the team and look forward to the start of training camp next week."
