Default My first vette

Picked up this little FRC a few days ago. 55k miles and I believe 2 owners. Couldn't pass it up thanks to our resident forum member, Nick, who seems to help everyone on this board.

I can truly say this is the first real sports car I've owned. Had plenty of other muscle cars but this is a whole new feeling that I could only describe as "raw". I was intebding to do a quick flip but I fell in love with it more than I already was. I have always been a huge fan of FRC looks.

Don't know what's wrong. Flickr and Google photos are not working on here. Also no option to upload photos directly either.

What web addresses are you trying to use with the [ img ] tags?

Speaking of pics, this is what your signature looks like, jwdb1fish:

I'm just using the link that it gives you when you try to share them. I'm sure I'm doing something wrong but I never had issues with photobucket

http://tinypic.com/index.php (this is what I have been using) KCSR never allowed a direct upload , always had to find workarounds for hosting

Try Flickr's bbcode link. The standard link doesn't go to an image file.

Nice.

C5 have junk interior, but as far as all around performance, reliability and livability, it's pretty much peerless at that price point. I'm going to be bummed when I have to sell mine.

Congrats on the pickup.

Edit: any mods?

ha... if you think c5 is junk... then you haven't spent much time in a foxbody! Foxes have always been my favorite cars but this is light years ahead. I understand it's not some fancy interior but I would prefer simplicity. Quite similar to the WS6 I had but better IMO. The condition of it is quite good for 55k miles.

Considering I paid less for this than I would have a foxbody with similar miles... my opinion is it's the best money I could have spent for something fun. Again I bought with the intent to quick flip but I doubt that happens now. I'm far from a brand loyalist these days and I'm finding it to be a lot more fun to just enjoy everything.

Not much for mods
Axle back exhaust
Bilstein shocks
Addco front sway baar
MGW shifter
LED Headlights
Lowered on stock bolts

Plenty of fun for what it is... maybe I'll get the bug and drop it off with Nick. Always been hesitant of modding stuff but with Nick in your corner I don't know how you can go wrong.

I did solid motor mounts, stainless headers, xpipe and hi flow cats, already had a corsa exhaust and tune. Really woke it up and the mounts felt night and day. It's fun for what it is. Capable of 12s, decent mpg, and can take the targa out on nice days.

Junk is junk.
There is a difference between simplicity and junk.
Foxbody, C5 = junk interior/controls
S2000 = simplicity

I have had 3 C5Zs...great performers, but interior and controls are total junk.

fair enough. I don't have any complaints about it but it may develop with time.

What do you not like? Just curious.... maybe I shouldn't ask since it might bug me after you tell me

I absolutely love foxbodies and have no complaints... they are what they are. My expectations are not high for them based on when they were built. Everything in them works and not a lot of extra shit to break.

Everything in that late 80's era is similar... the same way the c5 is similar to the cars in it's era in my opinion. Sure it can't compete with cars 15 years newer... but I could care less about amenities. I spent $10.5k on a car and feel like a got a lot of fun for the money.

My opinion... s2000... hideous exterior design, ugly interior, and makes no torque. It just doesn't fit my likes... but plenty of people love them. The same comments caan be said about cars I enjoy. That's the beauty of the auto industry. Something for everyone.

Just cheap, typical 90's GM interior. Hard plastics, bits and pieces reused from base-model cars, etc.

I don't really mind the c5 interior too much, but it's definitely not high quality. Of course, IMO you aren't buying a c5 because of the interior. So if it doesn't bug you, who cares. You just paid a very low cost for pretty legit performance.

thats exactly how I feel about it... it's definitely nothing special but I kind of like that. I'm weird though. Most of my friends are not car people and they typically make fun of the stuff I buy. For me the interior is par for what else was being built at the time.

No hurt feelings at all here... I enjoy the discussion between people who actually enjoy cars.

In the same boat. Most of my friends think I'm nuts for having two cars. They often ask why not just get one newer, nicer car?

The interior is just cheap in c5. Stickers peeling from hvac unit, 2/3 hvac knobs are busted, just stuff like that. Overall, it's not awful, but not great. Like I mentioned , it's damn tough to find something that gives as much bargain as a c5. $10.5 for that w 55k is a steal. Was it local?

I actually feel like the C5 interior has aged well. I haven't been in a GM truck or passenger car of that era in so long, I forget that they use all the same parts and just take it for what it is.

Even in our track car it doesn't rattle much (26k miles), gauges are clear, heads up display is relatively cool for that era. My only complaint was the seats flopping around and the shifter. C6 shifter and corbeau seats and it's fixed.

I think you nailed it. When you spend 10-15k on a car, there are things that you will learn to expect. Certainly, having a super dooper nice interior is not one of them. The C5 is a LOT of car for the money - there is absolutely no doubt about that. When I bought a C5Z (and I have had many), I never once thought: what an ugly interior am I getting. Never. I knew what I was getting, but having the performance and the ability to outperform cars costing twice or more, was considerably more attractive to me.

Awesome. Congrats. I enjoy driving my C6Z so much; would love to have a C5 to beat on every day and not feel bad about it.

Man headers sure are expensive for these cars! Was thinking about doing some stuff... but not sure. My first thing would be wheels if anyone comes across something send it my way!

Check out the speed engineering headers. Thankfully the previous owner put all the expensive stuff on my C6 before I bought it.

Congrats!
