Avengers: Infinity War Covers Released

Avengers: Infinity War is right around the corner, and you can get your best look yet at the cast of heroes in these gorgeous new covers.
EW released fifteen covers of their newest issue, which features the heroes of the MCU in all their splendid glory along with the one causing all this ruckus, Thanos.
The covers all connect to form a slick cosmic Avengers logo, and each cover features a different pairing of heroes, though a few get the solo spotlight. The covers include Scarlet Witch and Nebula, a new look Thor (with eye patch), Groot, and Rocket Raccon, Doctor Strange (solo), Hulk (solo), Star-Lord and Okoye, Vision and Shuri, Black Panther (solo), Thanos (solo, with Infinity Gauntlet), Spider-Man (solo), Mantis and Winter Soldier (with new look arm), War Machine and Drax (yay), Iron Man with snazzy new wings (solo), Black Widow (solo), Captain America (solo), and Falcon and Gamora.

22 heroes in all take the spotlight on these covers, which helps you realize just how epic in scale this film is.
Now, there are a couple of notable exceptions here. The Hawkeye faithful will be up in arms a bit, as the arrow slinger is not on any of these covers. Some might think that's a bad sign, but he is expected to have a role in Avengers 4, so it is most likely a spoiler plot point related thing.
Also, Thanos' Black Order is not featured here either, though there have been some other images of Corvus Glaive, Proxima Midnight, and Outriders. Hopefully the Black Order will get their own cover spotlight before the film finally hits theaters.
Hit the next slide to check out the gorgeous new covers!

SLIDE 1/16 – NEBULA AND SCARLET WITCH(Photo: Marvel Studios/EW) Scarlet Witch seems to have had her trenchcoat tweaked just a bit, while Nebula looks mostly the same from her last appearance in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

You might not think it at first glance, but the two do share some similarities, including their past experiences with their siblings and their turns to the heroic from villainous origins.

SLIDE 2/16 – GROOT, ROCKET RACCOON, AND THOR(Photo: Marvel Studios/EW) Rocket Racoon, Groot, and Thor share this amazing cover, and the three will eventually meet quite early in the film.

This also gives us a look at Thor's new costume, which has changed yet again since his Ragnarok adventure.

SLIDE 3/16 – DOCTOR STRANGE(Photo: Marvel Studios/EW) Doctor Strange strikes a mean pose but otherwise looks mostly unchanged since his last appearance in Thor: Ragnarok.

It won't make him any less important though, as Thanos is going to want that Time Stone he wears around his neck.

SLIDE 4/16 – HULK(Photo: Marvel Studios/EW) Hulk Smash! Or fly in this case. Evidently, that is what he'll be doing in Infinity War early on, as he will leave a hole in Doctor Strange's lovely home.

This is why Hulk is never invited to parties.

SLIDE 5/16 – STAR-LORD AND OKOYE(Photo: Marvel Studios/EW)
Star-Lord and Okoye take the spotlight here, and while it seems like an unusual pairing, that's kind of what we love about it.

SLIDE 6/16 – VISION AND SHURI(Photo: Marvel Studios/EW) Shuri was one of the (many) bright spots in Marvel's Black Panther, and seeing her interact with the Vision should be endlessly entertaining.

Mostly so she can show up Tony Stark's ego at every turn.

SLIDE 7/16 – BLACK PANTHER(Photo: Marvel Studios/EW)
The star of Marvel's latest hit, Black Panther will have a big presence in Infinity War, and Thanos has a vested interested in the hero's homeland too.

SLIDE 8/16 – THANOS(Photo: Marvel Studios/EW)
The mad titan Thanos is unlike any threat the Avengers or any of the MCU heroes for that matter have seen before. The thing...he knows it, and that's what makes him even more terrifying.

SLIDE 9/16 – SPIDER-MAN(Photo: Marvel Studios/EW) Spidey returns to action, and here we get an up-close look at his new Iron Spider suit (courtesy of Tony Stark).

It's pretty slick, though we don't see any of those Iron Spider appendages from the comics...yet.

SLIDE 10/16 – MANTIS AND WINTER SOLDIER(Photo: Marvel Studios/EW) Mantis and Winter Soldier would actually make an interesting team, and we're glad both are back in the fold for Infinity War.

Mantis appears largely unchanged from Guardians Vol. 2, but Bucky's sporting a brand new Shuri-designed arm, and it looks amazing.

SLIDE 11/16 – WAR MACHINE AND DRAX(Photo: Marvel Studios/EW) Yay! It's Drax! We hadn't seen the beloved Guardians in any of the marketing yet, so it is nice to see him make a splash.

We also get a great look at War Machine's slick new armor, complete with Red LEDs that actually do make it look even cooler.

SLIDE 12/16 – IRON MAN(Photo: Marvel Studios/EW) Okay, wasn't sure how to feel about this suit, but it looks pretty damn cool.

Infinity War: Every Reveal From EW’s Avengers Coverage

Though a full-length trailer for Avengers: Infinity War still hasn’t arrive, EW‘s cover story on the film has revealed tons of new info about the characters and plot. On the surface, there’s not much marketing that needs to go into the new Avengers film given Marvel’s track record and the promise of dozens of heroes joining forces to finally confront Thanos. The MCU has been 10 years in the making and Infinity War is something of a victory lap. Still, fans are anxious for some idea of what the plot will entail what future may await their favorite characters.

Thanks to Avengers 3‘s release date moving up, there’s less than two months before the biggest film of 2018 arrives. Toys, posters, and other merchandise and promotional items have been pouring in, teasing everything from the Black Order to Spider-Mans’ new stingers. But with EW‘s exclusive cover story reveals the most yet, teasing a lot more about the beginning of the end for Phase 3 of the MCU.

THOR, ROCKET, AND GROOT STICK TOGETHER

Only mild surprise to anyone who’s been following the marketing and merchandise of Avengers: Infinity War so far, but the God of Thunder will be joining forces with the Guardians of the Galaxy. What the EW report confirms is that we’ll see Thor, Groot, and Rocket team-up for most of the film as they pursue a special mission to stop Thanos. We’ve already seen Thor, Rocket, and Groot figures promoted together, and Thor: Ragnarok proved how comedic the God of Thunder can be when paired with the right characters. Though Rocket and Groot will likely be along to help Thor forge a new weapon, expect plenty of laughs when the trio come together.

BUCKY IS NOW THE WHITE WOLF

The Black Panther post-credits scene established a whole new Bucky will be joining Avengers: Infinity War. Not only does he have his mind again, but he’ll also gain a new arm courtesy of tech-wizard Shuri. But the appendage won’t be the only upgrade Bucky receives in the film. Ditching the Winter Soldier name tied to his time under Hydra’s control, Bucky will be the White Wolf when he arrives in Avengers 3. The name nods to T’Challa’s half-brother from the comics (who rocks an all-white variation on the Black Panther costume), but it’s a fitting one for the new and improved Bucky Barnes.

IRON MAN’S NEW ARMOR IS SPACE-READY

Tony Stark has always embodied the ethos that tech should be constantly evolving. The comics have seen him gain all sorts of upgrades to his armor and the MCU has followed suit. For Avengers: Infinity War, Iron Man will get his Bleeding Edge armor from the comics, though it’s not clear if it will have all the capabilities from the page. In the source material, the armor can literally form around him using nanotechnology. We’ll have to wait and see if that occurs in Avengers 3, but the new thrusters on the suit are designed to bring Tony into space. And with Thanos on the hunt for the Infinity Stones, the upgrade will definitely come in handy.
TONY STARK’S WORLDVIEW HAS CHANGED

We’ve watched Tony go through a lot since Iron Man, from rethinking his entire life after nearly dying only to end up in much the same place in Iron Man 3. And both Avengers: Age of Ultron and Captain America: Civil War saw the futurist make some rash decisions with disastrous consequences. But according to Robert Downey, Jr., Avengers: Infinity Warwill start with Tony in a much more focused space:
“I don’t think Tony is idle, I think he is wondering … Look, when he tried to make a suit of armor around the world [in Avengers: Age of Ultron], that didn’t pan out so well. Now I think his goals are smaller.”
THE AVENGERS SUB-TEAMS WILL BE SETUP FROM THE START

With so many characters appearing in Avengers: Infinity War, there’s no time for drawn-out plots and origins. Instead, Marvel is assuming audiences are familiar enough with the characters to dive right in. According to Robert Downey, Jr’s EW interview, Avengers 3 will begin with teams already forming. We know Captain America has been busy with Falcon and Widow and Bucky is in Wakanda. And from the look of things, Bruce, Tony, Doctor Strange, and Wong will all join forces rather quickly when the Hulk comes crashing to Earth and lands in the Sanctum Sanctorum. So, while some pieces will come together as the film goes along, it looks to start with a bang.

PEPPER IS THE HEART OF IRON MAN’S STORY

In both the comics and the movies, Pepper Potts has been a key part of Tony Stark’s story. She hasn’t always been able to fit into the various team-up films in the MCU, but her essential role in Iron Man’s solo stories mean she was naturally going to show up in Avengers: Infinity War (possibly with superpowers). Though the film is packed with characters, everyone will still get an arc, and that’s especially true for the person who kicked off the MCU. According to Robert Downey, Jr., even amidst the chaos, the relationship between Tony and Pepper will get a spotlight:
“Pepper remains the heart of the [Iron Man] story. I think we wanted to get back to that reality. Not just for them, but let’s really see how that can add to the something-worth-fighting-for of it all.”
THE MYSTERIOUS ORANGE PLANET IS TITAN

As if the reveal of an image showing Thanos tossing an entire moon wasn’t enough, we learned that the scene on a mysterious orange planet takes place on Titan. Like in the real world, Titan is one of Saturn’s moons, but in the comics, it’s the former home of Thanos; once a prosperous place, he returns and razes the celestial body as part of his never-ending journey to court Death herself. It seems the moon will serve as one of the main battlefields in Avengers: Infinity War, and we now know how strong the Power and Space Stones are when combined.

RHODEY’S BRAND-NEW LEGS

The new images from EW also show Rhodey making amends with Team Cap. We knew from the trailer that War Machine fights alongside Captain America, Black Widow, and Bucky in Wakanda, but the new image of him with Steve and Natasha show of the tech that will be helping him walk. We don’t yet know his mental state in the film, but hopefully the consequences of Captain America: Civil War and the battle over the Sokovia Accords won’t simply be swept under the rug once Thanos comes to Earth.

'Avengers: Infinity War': Chadwick Boseman Explains T'Challa's Relationship With Captain America

Captain America: Civil War saw the debut of Black Panther, who immediately got into a violent confrontation with Captain America and Bucky Barnes. By the end of the film, the trio came to an understanding, with T'Challa allowing Bucky to hide in Wakanda after a dramatic confrontation with Iron Man. According to Avengers: Infinity War star Chadwick Boseman, the partnership between Black Panther and Cap has only gotten stronger.
“His shield was already made from vibranium anyway. So it’s just an extension of what he already had. This time, actually giving it to him, as opposed to…” Boseman pointed out of the partnership to Entertainment Weekly, hinting that the original shield was likely constructed with stolen vibranium. “Me actually giving it to him is a testament to our relationship and trust.”

He added, "They trust each other."
Fans first saw hints of Wakanda at the end of Civil War, with Bucky being put into a stasis with the implication being that T'Challa would use his tech to help construct a new arm for Bucky. In a Black Panther post-credits scene, we see Bucky emerge, with T'Challa's sister Shuri referring to him as the "White Wolf."

The trailer for Avengers: Infinity War teases a massive battle in the heart of Wakana, forcing the community to embrace outsiders in their home, which Black Panther revealed the residents were reluctant to do.
“Change is scary,” Danai Gurira, who plays a member of the Dora Milaje, shared of the evolution. “But I think the learning curve is to become a citizen of the world versus a citizen of Wakanda.”

Civil War was a divisive moment for our heroes, forcing them to choose their allegiances. Given all that they'd been through together and both serving as prominent members of SHIELD, Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow also opts to side with Steve Rogers.
“It’s always felt like Natasha uses her cynicism as a defense mechanism. She weaponizes it for survival,” Chris Evans confirmed. “I think Steve is a little newly calloused in the ways of the world. But Natasha is always going to be a couple steps ahead of him in terms of experience and knowledge. They’ve leaned on each other for different reasons. It’s reinforced the friendship.”

AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR Stars Scarlett Johansson & Chris Evans On How Black Widow Has Changed Since CIVIL WAR

Scarlett Johansson and Chris Evans, stars of the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War, recently discussed with Entertainment weekly how and why the character of Black Widow has changed since we last saw her...

Since her very first cinematic appearance back in Iron Man 2; Natasha Romanoff has undergone quite the makeover - and not just physically, but mentally too. The character last appeard in Captain America: Civil War (or Thor: Ragnarok if you want to be pedantic) which set the Marvel Cinematic Universe's heroes against each other in ideological battle of two seperate teams: Iron Man's or Captain America's.

Ultimately, Romanoff sided with Captain America and his rebellious band of Avengers. Since then she's been on the run alongside them, and actress Scarlett Johansson explains (in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly) how that has caused Romanoff to become even more calloused:
I think it’s been a dark time. I wouldn’t say that my character has been particularly hopeful, but I think she’s hardened even more than she probably was before.
It seems that one of the only people Natasha truly trusts is Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) who explains how the events of Civil War and the interval time between it and Infinity War has only strengthened their bond:
It’s always felt like Natasha uses her cynicism as a defense mechanism. She weaponizes it for survival. I think Steve is a little newly calloused in the ways of the world. But Natasha is always going to be a couple steps ahead of him in terms of experience and knowledge. They’ve leaned on each other for different reasons. It’s reinforced the friendship.
As mentioned above; Black Widow isn't just changing mentally, but physically as well, sporting a brand new look. Her iconic red hair dyed blonde and her black outfit now partially green. She'll also be wielding two eletrified batons which can combine together into a staff.

What do you think about Black Widow's mental and physical changes in Avengers: Infinity War? What about how her overall character has transformed throughout the Marvel Cinematic Universe?

Thanos' Villainous Motivations In AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR Revealed - Mild SPOILERS Ahead

We already knew a little about what prompts Thanos to seek out the Infinity Stones and embark on his catastrophic crusade in Infinity War, but now Kevin Feige has shared some more eye-opening details...

EW's Avengers: Infinity War coverage continues with some mildly SPOILERIFIC new details on what motivates Thanos (Josh Brolin) to set out on his apocalyptic mission.

In the comics, The Mad Titan vows to destroy all life in the universe to impress the personification of death, whom he has fallen in love with. However, it seems the villain's motivations will actually be a little less selfish (could they even be construed as noble?) for the purposes of this film.

Here's what Marvel head honcho Kevin Feige revealed to EW during their interview:
He’s from a planet called Titan that’s no longer inhabited because of things that he thought he could help prevent, and he was not allowed to do that,” Feige says. “What he feared most happened, and the planet and everybody on it basically went extinct. He vowed not to let that happen again. He thinks he sees the universe going down the tubes. He thinks he sees life expanding outward unchecked. That will bring ruin, he believes, to the universe and to that life.”
To be fair to Thanos, in the comics he wants to put an end to all life in the universe, whereas here he's settling for half! “That’s either genius or horrific, depending on your point of view," continues Feige. "And most of our point of views say it’s pretty horrific.”

It's not a particularly drastic alteration to the character, but it is clearly designed to make his actions slightly more understandable.

AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR: Will Earth's Mightiest Heroes Find Out Agent Coulson Is Alive And Well?

Phil Coulson has been through an awful lot since being resurrected by Nick Fury shortly after the events of The Avengers but will his old friends find out he's alive? Jeph Loeb and Clark Gregg discuss...

Agent Phil Coulson played a key role in Marvel's Phase 1 and his demise at the hands of Loki was what brought Earth's Mightiest Heroes together. Nick Fury resurrected him in time for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and he's since saved the world multiple times alongside his team but will The Avengers ever learn that their old friend has actually been back in the land of the living for a number of years now? Perhaps!

With Avengers: Infinity War on the horizon and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. possibly airing its final season, now seems like the perfect time to make that a reality. Asked by Entertainment Weekly about whether or not he's interested in a reunion, Clark Gregg played coy and pointed to it being down to Marvel.

"When they feel like it’s time to start connecting any of these worlds, they will," he points out. "I feel like I’ll hear from them then, but in the meantime, I have my hands full trying to do a good job on [S.H.I.E.L.D.]." Executive producer Jeph Loeb, however, had a much interesting answer and it sounds like some sort of resolution to this plot thread could be in the works in the not too distant future!

"It’s certainly something that will get resolved, and it may get resolved in a very surprising way," he teased when asked about the possible reunion happening in time for Avengers: Infinity War. As a result, it appears as if we'll just have to stay tuned but expect some answers sooner rather than later.

AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR Actor Tom Vaughan-Lawlor Teases That There May Be More To Ebony Maw Than Meets The Eye

Avengers: Infinity War mo-cap actor Tom Vaughan-Lawlor recently shared details about his role as Ebony Maw and it sounds like there may be a more to one of Thanos' children than initially meets the eye.

In a recent interview with Inverse, mo-cap actor Tom Vaughn-Lawlor (The Infiltrator), who was tapped to breathe life into Ebony Maw in Avengers: Infinity War, shared details about his experience working with the Russo Brothers on the upcoming Marvel blockbuster.

While Vaughn-Lawlor unsurprisingly did his best to remain as vague as possible, he did also seemingly hint that his role may be a little more complex than we might think. "They were all about the truth of this character and what his objective was and what he wants within that universe. Although you’re playing at the operatic supervillain level, what they were asking of me as an actor was to find the truth of the character in the scenes.

Now, considering that Ebony Maw, who is widely known as a psychological mastermind and genius manipulator, is considered the most dangerous of Thanos' children in the comics, could this be our first sign that the Marvel Cinematic Universe version of the character will follow in the footsteps of his comic counterpart? In case you aren't familiar, in the comics, Ebony Maw ends up betraying Thanos (Josh Brolin) and using Thanos' son, Thane, against him, which inadvertently helps turn the tides for The Avengers and results in Earth's Mightiest Heroes finally defeating the Mad Titan.

Thane is not expected to make an appearance, especially now that the Inhumans have been relegated to television, so if Ebony Maw is secretly plotting to betray his father, then it will likely play out considerably different than what we've come to expect.

AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR BTS Sneak Peek Features New Interviews With Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson And More

ET just aired their Avengers: Infinity War sneak peek, and while it didn't feature any new footage from the film, it did include some fresh behind-the-scenes footage, as well as new cast interviews...

As most of us figured, tonight's "new" Entertainment Tonight Avengers: Infinity War sneak peek didn't actually feature any fresh footage from the Marvel movie, but that doesn't mean it's not worth a watch.

The video does include some new behind-the-scenes shots of the cast and crew preparing to film the Wakandan battle sequence, and we also get interviews with the likes of Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson and Anthony Mackie, who are suited-up as their characters.

In related news, Marvel has reportedly debunked rumors that we'll be getting that
final trailer tomorrow. However, Infinity War tickets are expected to go on sale this Friday, so hopefully we'll see it at some point this week.

In the meantime, check out the sneak peek below, and let us know what you think in the comments.

Tom Holland And Robert Downey Jr. Weigh In On How Iron Man And Spider-Man Might React To Wakanda

We still don't know if Iron Man and Spider-Man will be present during Avengers: Infinity War's final battle in Wakanda but both Tom Holland and Robert Downey Jr. have weighed in on what they'd make if it.

At the end of Black Panther, T'Challa finally decided to open Wakanda's doors to the rest of the world and that's obviously going to be a game changer for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It has, of course, already been confirmed that the final act of Avengers: Infinity War will take place in the fictional African nation but how might heroes like Iron Man and Spider-Man react to such a place?

Well, while we have no idea whether or not either hero will ultimately arrive in Wakanda to protect The Vision from Thanos' Outriders, both Robert Downey Jr. and Tom Holland seem interested.

"Well, a technologically advanced country is probably something that he wishes would benefit humanity without creating more infighting," Downey Jr. says. "I think that’s what he would hope for America. That’s what he would hope for the world. I think to him, he would view it as a potentially utopian model." Whether or not Iron Man will survive long enough to make that happen isn't clear.

As for how Peter Parker could react, Holland will no doubt make a lot of fans happy by pointing out how great it will be seeing Spider-Man side by side with Shuri. "I think Peter would love it. There’ssome great moments in the comics where Peter ends up there. And Letitia and I have become really good friends over the last year and a bit. It would be brilliant to have our characters meet up, it would be so funny. She’s brilliant in the movie, she’s actually my favorite part of Black Panther."

Regardless of how things play out in Avengers: Infinity War, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige promises that Wakanda will be a big part of Phase 4 serving as an "anchor point" of sorts for future stories. "That’s the grand Marvel Studios/MCU tradition of just being all in, right?" he teases.

In June of 2017, I traveled to Atlanta, Georgia to visit the set of Avengers: Infinity War. We were on set for a scene featuring a bunch of Avengers arriving in Wakanda. We will be rolling out of coverage from the set over the next few weeks, but today, I bring you our roundtable interview with Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman and the Incredible Hulk himself, Mark Ruffalo.
The two stars tell us how they fit into the dynamic created by Thanos in this film, the evolution of the Hulk, his relationship with Black Widow, the changes in Black Panther’s suit, the differences from the comics, interacting with characters they haven’t encountered on screen before, why Wakanda plays a central role in this adventure, and much more. Below, read our full Chadwick Boseman Mark Ruffalo Infinity War interview.
Chadwick Boseman Mark Ruffalo Infinity War Interview

What can each of you tell us about what your character has been doing since we will have last seen them, which I guess will be Thor: Ragnarok and Black Panther?
Boseman: My character just cut an album. [all laugh] He’s been on tour….My character, obviously we just finished shooting the Black Panther movie and in that movie he’s just trying to recover from his father dying, trying to restore order in Wakanda, and the rest of it you have to wait for…
Ruffalo: [Hulk] went to another dimension for a little while and met up with his pal, good pal, Thor, and they went on an intergalactic buddy trip, and then he came back. We were introduced to Thanos after doing a lot of fighting, and now he’s been brought back together with the Avengers.
What’s the reaction between your two characters meeting each other? How does The Hulk react to Black Panther and how does Black Panther react to him?
Boseman: I have not had the opportunity to get to know him yet.
Ruffalo: But I immediately see him and feel that he’s royalty and feel that the respectful thing to do is bow down to him.
What’s your dynamic been like with the rest of the Avengers? Obviously, he’s seen some shit over the multiverse and now he’s back and he missed out on civil war, what’s that like getting back into the team again?
Ruffalo: Once again I think he’s trying to find his place in the line-up. He’s having some difficulties integrating with the rest of the group, but he’s also privy to some information that is essential for their survival.
Chadwick, we know that the tone of Black Panther and the character overall is really at odds with like Guardians of the Galaxy tone for instance, those two movies couldn’t be more different in that way. What’s it like for your character, as much as you can say, to get involved with Peter Quill and all those people?
Boseman: You know, that is a good question. No, no, Seriously, because that is the difficulty in making a movie like this, you have to see the flavor of each one of them. So, I think what is good is that in this situation, you’re seeing them in my world. They’re in my wold so it’s interesting to have them enter our space, which is not something that happens all of the time. I think it’s important for us to give the flavor of Wakanda, and they’re really adjusting to our space, so that will be part of the fun of the movie. And the Guardians entering it…obviously, there is a clash, all of that is conflict but it’s not conflict between us necessarily, so, but it is an emotional, psychological, social conflict.
What can you say about the scene that you’re shooting today? The Avengers are coming to Wakanda to talk to you and your people.
Boseman: Are you asking why are they here? … You have a world problem with Thanos, a problem that affects everyone in the world. So Wakanda is on the world stage and we’re obviously advanced in a way where we can help with the situation, so that is all that’s happening here.
What do your characters think of Thanos? What does Banner and Hulk think of Thanos and what does Black Panther think of Thanos?
Boseman: You know, it’s not..we don’t have time really…there’s not a long-running personal conflict for us, there are other characters who have that. We’re just dealing with the situation at hand and we know he is a threat to all of us, but in terms of, do I not like him because his style or something like that? I don’t have the opportunity to do it.
Ruffalo: Banner knows probably more about Thanos than probably anybody and he’s really trying to impress on everybody how dangerous he is, it’s a little bit of a Chicken Little [scenario]. He comes in screaming bloody murder…He’s seen what damage he can cause and how powerful he is and the entire group is in disarray, so he’s also getting caught up on what’s happened here and is trying to get them to transcend their differences and impress upon them how much danger they’re actually facing.
That sounds like a very good Banner reaction. Does The Hulk feel any differently?
Ruffalo: The Hulk is also mightily impressed by Thanos.
In a lot of those stories with Thanos, Infinity Gauntlet and Infinity War, Hulk is at a place where is speaking in complete sentences. Is he doing that here?
Ruffalo: Really little, little ones.
Is he still monosyllabic in this?
Ruffalo: Uhm…We’re starting to find a Hulk…the division between Hulk and Banner is starting to blur a little bit and so you have a Hulk that can actually express himself without being angry. There are sentences, yes. We’re getting into like a five-year-old.
How much of being terrified of Thanos is carryover from Ragnarok versus happening in the beginning of this movie?
Ruffalo: So Ragnarok will be out by then…it starts in Ragnarok
Speaking to the last time we saw Banner and Black Widow together, they were at a very critical moment, I’m curious to how that might be explored in this film.
Ruffalo: In this film? They’re star-crossed lovers, so it’ll be something they’re dealing with for the rest of their living days, I think. Whether it’s requited or unrequited, I don’t imagine that’s gonna go away anytime soon in one iteration or another.
What are some of the days where you have the biggest amount of cast on set? I don’t know what you guys have shot so far, but I’m sure there’s stuff with even more characters than there are today.
Ruffalo: Way more. This is the first day we’ve had so many different people together. This is the biggest cast together.
Boseman: I can tell you what it feels like today…It’s fun to see, especially because we have not had a lot of opportunities to work together and when you look at actors that you respect and revere and you see them doing their things, it’s not just about the characters but the cast members. It’s fun to listen to people tell stories. It’s a lot of pressure […] I don’t have time to joke when we are shooting Black Panther, it’s serious all the time. But in this case, you don’t have all the weight on your shoulders, so you have more comfort. We’re sharing the weight. Which is actually what’s happening with the superheroes as well, because they could not deal with Thanos alone. I think there is a lot of comfort in having people who are so good around you.
As you’re shooting this, neither Ragnarok or Black Panther are out yet, so without having seen the finished movie, what is it like dealing with the character?
Boseman: For me, it does not make a difference because once the movie is out, I don’t watch it anymore anyway so my perspective is only from being inside it, and we just finished so it’s like I’m just carrying on the story.
Ruffalo: I’d say the same.
Mark, can you talk about the evolution the Avengers films from the first one? Are your challenges going into that one and having the audience respond to them, how that might have evolved into Ultron and how it feels going into this one now? Are they treated like different projects when you come around to them?
Ruffalo: Oddly enough, I joke with people that this is like doing a TV show where you shoot one episode every three years. There’s a continuity to it and when we talked about it with Marvel or Kevin, we really do talk about it as the character’s progression and where…I’ve been able to have a lot of say in where it goes and you’re also dealing with a new script and a new world, but the characters feel like they’re making a journey, you know? And it does feel like one goes to the next and goes to the next. It feels like a long serial which is nice, I think.
Chadwick, from movie to movie, we’ve seen a lot of characters that get new suits, new gadgets. What can you say about Black Panther’s costume from this new movie. Do you have any vehicles or is there any alterations to your suit that we’re going to see?
Boseman: You know… Yes, there are alterations to the suit. I lost a little weight so the altering…No, I’m joking. There are alterations but I think it’s more so, I cannot be specific about those things. From Black Panther, you’re going into the world of Wakanda, they’re more technologically advanced than any other nation on the planet, so you’re seeing some gadgets and technology and the merger of those things with spiritually in that way that you didn’t see in Civil War. But that is because you’re coming into their space, so yes, the answer is yes, I’m not going to tell you what it is.

For both of you, where there any specific comic books that you read to help you prepare for this movie?
Ruffalo: This one we’re like in new territory, really.
Boseman: It’s different in this one, I don’t know how to explain it. It’s just because we’re in so many different places.
Ruffalo: And it’s so different from the comic books. There’s elements that are clearly the same but when you really start to get into the story everything changes. I did…Planet Hulk was a big influence for Thor 3, and the idea, the inkling of World War Hulk starts to…I read [that] way before doing this and there’s some interesting stuff in there, but honestly nothing so far directly related to this.
You didn’t read Infinity Gauntlet or any of those?
Ruffalo: Yeah, that is informative as well, but then again it just gets so…off of that topic that it starts to become a little confusing where you’re like “Why isn’t this in there? Why are we doing this?”
Boseman: It actually takes away from what is actually happening in front of you I think, in this case.
Character-wise, are there interactions that your characters get to have with people that they haven’t that you’re excited for.
Ruffalo: Maybe
Boseman: Yes, I think so. Again without being specific, because we can’t get too into [it].
Ruffalo: What generally ends up happening too is we find stuff as we’re going along. This is the first time we’re together, so we have a whole giant sequence coming up where we could interact, you don’t really know. A lot of the pages we’re just getting the morning that we’re shooting because it’s so secretive too. Just today, Don Cheadle and I never really had any kind of a thing and all today all of a sudden there is something there.
Is there anyone you want your character [to do] or you’re hoping your characters get to interact with?
Ruffalo: I’d love to more stuff to with him [Boseman]. I think it’s really funny to have Banner and him together, I think that’s really interesting.
Where do Tony and Bruce pick back up?
Ruffalo: Well, coming out of Thor 3, Banner’s had a life changing experience in Thor 3 that makes him much more expressive and not so internalized, you know? So it’s not combative, but they’re not so in-sync as they were. Plus, Banner doesn’t understand Civil War. He just doesn’t get it.
Speaking to Tony and Banner, is this gonna be a movie that Science Bros. fans will be stoked about? I know you’re aware of this…
Ruffalo: Oh yeah, there’s great Science Bros. stuff. There’s good Science Bros. stuff. We’re paired up again.
I was gonna ask about that because previously these guys were the brains. But now with T’Challa and his family and the Wakandan people, [who] are so far beyond that in tech. How does that play out, that relationship? And how essential are Wakandans to defending Earth?
Ruffalo: Hugely.
Boseman: You definitely see where some of the gap is…You see where the gap is and what some things we’re able to do that they’re not able to do and that one you will definitely find.
Ruffalo: There’s no way to overcome what they’re facing without in some way coming to terms with their differences and embracing their diversity. That’s essentially a core value of the film and that together, only together, can they triumph.
What is the Dora Milaje’s reaction to all these Avengers and maybe the Guardians, if they meet them?
Boseman: About them coming into the country?
Yeah, just meeting them, what’s their reaction.
Boseman: You would have to ask one of them, but the initial entry of them into the country is definitely like “Are you sure about this? Are you sure you want to let them in?”
Ruffalo: There goes the neighborhood.
Boseman: There goes the neighborhood, that is a good way of saying it.

Infinity War: Black Widow & Banner Are ‘Star-Crossed Lovers’

Thanos’ cosmic war is headed to Earth, but love might end up conquering all. Although Avengers: Infinity War will feature every virtually every Marvel Cinematic Universe hero, from Star-Lord to Spider-Man, it will find time to once again explore the complicated love story between Bruce Banner and Natasha Romanoff.
During a visit to the Infinity War set by Screen Rant and other outlets, actor Mark Ruffalo revealed the relationship between the Black Widow and his character will once again come into focus. “They’re star-crossed lovers, so it’ll be something they’re dealing with for the rest of their lives,” he teased. “Whether it’s requited or unrequited, I don’t imagine that’s gonna go away any time soon in one iteration or another.”

The relationship between Banner and Romanoff stood out from their first meeting in 2012’s The Avengers. In Avengers: Age of Ultron, they tried to make things work as a couple as best they could, a subplot that some fans considered a disappointment in the 2015 sequel. However, the recent Thor: Ragnarok showed the bond between Widow and Hulk is still strong, given that the mere sight of Natasha’s recorded video was enough for Banner to transform back into his human self, after spending more than two years as the Jade Giant.
After years apart, it will be bittersweet to see these two characters reunite, especially considering the circumstances surrounding their last encounter, during the battle of Sokovia.

AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR: Mark Ruffalo On The Hulk's Reaction To Thanos And Banner's Reunion With Black Widow

Mark Ruffalo talks about how The Hulk reacts to Thanos after crossing paths with the villain while also shedding some light on Bruce Banner's importance to the story and his reunion with Natasha Romanoff.

Earth's Mightiest Heroes have seen nothing of The Hulk since he took a Quinjet ride at the end of Avengers: Age of Ultron which ended in him being stranded on Sakaar. The Jade Giant is, of course, coming home in Avengers: Infinity War and it sounds like he knows a lot about The Mad Titan.

"Once again, I think he’s trying to find his place in the line-up," Mark Ruffalo explained during an on-set interview. "He’s having some difficulties integrating with the rest of the group, but he’s also privy to some information that is essential for their survival… Banner knows probably more about Thanos than probably anybody and he’s really trying to impress on everybody how dangerous he is."

How does Banner know so much about Thanos? Well, it's presumably because he crossed paths with the villain when he attacked Thor's spaceship, a moment first teased at the end of Thor: Ragnarok.

So, what does the hero make of his foe? "The Hulk is also mightily impressed by Thanos."

As for how Banner is going to react to finally being reunited with Black Widow, it sounds like we can expect the divisive romance to continue being a big part of each of their respective arcs here. "They’re star-crossed lovers. So it’ll be something they’re dealing with for the rest of their living days I think. Whether it’s requited or unrequited, I don’t imagine that’s gonna go away any time soon in one iteration or another." Will there be time for romance during Thanos' attack on Wakanda, though?

AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR - Banner Tries To Mend CIVIL WAR Differences And Convey The Threat Imposed By Thanos

It seems Mark Ruffalo's Bruce Banner is terrified of Thanos while the Hulk is actually impressed. Even more intriguing is the fact that the line between Banner and his savage alter-ego is blurring.

It seems Bruce Banner survives Thanos arrival on the Asgardian refugee ship as the Thor: Ragnarok end-credits scene revealed the Mad Titan's massive spacecraft, Sanctuary. As the first batch of images from the film revealed, it seems Loki saved himself and the ship's inhabitants by forking over an Infinity Stone that was previously contained in Odin's Vault.

Banner eventually arrives on Earth, seeking to warn everyone of Thanos' impending arrival and the threat he imposes, however, the Avengers still haven't mended fences from their Captain America: Civil War dispute.

Ruffalo told a group of set visit reporters, "Banner’s had a life changing experience in Thor: Ragnarok that makes him much more expressive and not so internalized. So it’s not combative but (The Avengers) are not so in-sync as they were… Plus, Banner doesn’t understand Civil War. He just doesn’t get it.

AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR Scene Description - Here's What Happens When Earth's Mightiest Heroes Arrive In Wakanda

A new Avengers: Infinity War scene description has surfaced and it sheds some light on what happens when Earth's Mightiest Heroes arrive in Wakanda and how T'Challa is dealing with Thanos' invasion...

Earth's Mightiest Heroes are on the way to Wakanda, and when this scene begins, T'Challa has already evacuated the city and engaged its defences in preparation for Thanos' arrival. The Quinjet lands and out steps Captain America, Black Widow, The Falcon, and the Scarlet Witch but the latter is busy helping The Vision as he clutches his stomach after a brutal beating courtesy of The Black Order.

As they walk inside, they're met by Bucky and members of the team continue to pour out of the vehicle, including War Machine and Bruce Banner but the highlight comes when Cap meets back up with his old friend. They embrace for the first time and joke about "little green men" invading Earth.

Banner, meanwhile, bows to T'Challa and The Falcon can't help but take a swipe at Bucky. "Are you gonna snap and kill someone if they say bologna sandwich?" he asks. Things then get serious:

"How big of an assault should we expect?" the King of Wakanda asks.

"A pretty big one, sir," Cap replies.

"Well I have my King’s Guard," the Black Panther says. "The Dora Milaje…"

Falcon interjects again, "And a semi-stable, frozen 100-year old man."
Sounds pretty awesome, right? This scene takes place shortly before Thanos' Outriders invade Wakanda on the hunt for the Power Stone, a battle Kevin Feige has said takes up the entirety of the third act. With any luck, there will be some big twists and turns here as the movie ending with the Mad Titan emerging victorious just to set up Avengers 4 runs the risk of being a little predictable.

There’s Some Great Science Bros Stuff in Avengers: Infinity War

It’s been three years since Tony Stark and Bruce Banner shared the screen, but Avengers: Infinity War will reunite the Science Bros and add a new layer. With Avengers: Age of Ultron sending the Hulk riding off into the sunset, the MCU broke apart one of its most dynamic pairings; Tony and Bruce have been separate through their respective adventures in Captain America: Civil War and Thor: Ragnarok.
Thankfully, Avengers 3 will start with Bruce crashing to Earth and quickly meeting back up with his fellow Science Bro. When Bruce returns, however, he’ll be changed. Thor 3 established that his changing into the Hulk could soon be permanent, while Bruce’s time with the God of Thunder revealed a lighter side of the reserved scientist. Tony and Bruce’s team-up with Doctor Strange and Wong should also add another new wrinkle to the brainy duo.

During Screen Rant‘s set visit for Avengers: Infinity War, we heard from Mark Ruffalo about how Bruce’s pairing with Tony has changed and what the doctor thinks of the whole Civil War snafu:
“Well coming out of Thor 3, Banner’s had a life changing experience in Thor 3 that makes him much more expressive and not so internalized, you know? So it’s not combative but they’re not so in-sync as they were. Plus, Banner doesn’t understand Civil War. He just doesn’t get it.

Both Thor and Bruce sat out of Captain America: Civil War, so their take on the entire ordeal should be an interesting way to examine its ramifications moving forward. And given the adventure on Sakaar and Asgard the two had, Tony and the other Avengers will have plenty to process about Bruce and Thor’s absence too. But though some changes have occurred, Ruffalo assured the Science Bros will be back at it.
“Oh yeah, there’s great Science Bros. stuff. There’s good Science Bros. stuff. We’re paired up again"
We learned from EW‘s Avengers: Infinity War coverage that Wakanda will be an essential part of the film. It also seems that at least Banner/Hulk will end up there for the big battle with Thanos’ forces. According to Ruffalo, the reveal of the advanced nation will greatly impact the Science Bros and their understanding of science and technology. But both he and Chadwick Boseman think the shift will be for the better:
Boseman: You definitely see where some of the gap is…You see where the gap is and what some things we’re able to do that they’re not able to do and that one you will definitely find.
Ruffalo: There’s no way to overcome what they’re facing without in some way coming to terms with their differences and embracing their diversity. That’s essentially a core value of the film and that together, only together, can they triumph.
We’ve seen images and bits of footage showing Tony and Bruce back together, but we’ve yet to experience what their updated relationship will be like. Hopefully, the full trailer for the film will reveal more of their pairing. We don’t yet know Tony and Bruce’s role beyond Phase 3, but Avengers: Infinity War and its follow-up should give fans of the Science Bros plenty to enjoy.

Infinity War Will Be Very Different From The Comics

If there was any doubt The Avengers: Infinity War was going to be very different from the comic version, the cast has confirmed it. Since the end credits of The Avengers, Marvel Studios has teased that Thanos was the true villain pulling the strings behind it all, preparing for an all-out assault. As more and more Infinity Stones were revealed to be driving each hero’s movie series, the Marvel fans knew exactly what it was building towards… even as one Marvel fan theory after another was disproved by the films.
The payoff finally came when Marvel confirmed the coming of Infinity War, the studio’s biggest movie yet, named for the comic series in which Thanos united the Infinity Stones to take over the universe. But problems with the presumed ‘adaptation’ soon appeared. The “Infinity War” comic saw Earth’s heroes unite, sure – but under the orders of Adam Warlock. And Adam Warlock won’t be in Infinity War. More recently, Marvel has confirmed Thanos has a different origin story and hinted fans should stop spinning theories about the final Soul Infinity Stone.

As good as the original comics may be, the sheer number of heroes and storylines at work in the MCU demand their own conclusions. So when we sat down with the cast on the set of Infinity War, they confirmed that Marvel’s movie universe was now telling its own story, regardless of the event’s title:
For both of you, where there any specific comic books that you read to help you prepare for this movie?

Quote:
Mark Ruffalo: This one we’re like, in new territory really.
Chadwick Boseman: It’s different in this one, I don’t know how to explain it. It’s just because we’re in so many different places.
Ruffalo: And it’s so different from the comic books. There’s elements that are clearly the same but when you really start to get into the story everything changes. Planet Hulk was a big influence for
Thor 3, and the idea, the inkling of World War Hulk starts to… I read (that) way before doing this and there’s some interesting stuff in there, but honestly nothing so far directly related to this.
You didn’t read Infinity Gauntlet or any of those?

Quote:
Ruffalo: Yeah, that is informative as well, but then again it just gets so… off of that topic that it starts to become a little confusing where you’re like “Why isn’t this in there? Why are we doing this?”
Boseman: It actually takes away from what is actually happening in front of you I think, in this case.
There’s wisdom to Boseman’s advice, encouraging fans to focus less on the story not being told than the one carefully crafted by studio talent. And if anything, Marvel Studios has made it clear in the past that adhering to every word of the source material matters less than some fans might wish. The results have spoken for themselves, with no better example than Thor: Ragnarok: originally giving the “Planet Hulk” story to Thor instead. Hulk was eventually added back in, and Rgnarok was a hit. With Infinity War, the inspirations have become even less direct – and far more layered than just one mini-series could handle.

Even without the ongoing storylines of the main characters to worry about, there are at least 5 comics Infinity War is based on, or adapting parts of to film. It was inevitable that at some point, the characters and stories of Marvel’s movie universe would be more important than the comics which inspired their writers, stars, directors, and the audience too. The original Infinity War comic never went to Black Panther’s home either… but you just try denying fans a bit more Wakanda-focused action. Bittersweet for comic devotees, but if the filmmakers and fans were reading the same comics for inspiration, the creativity and originality of the movies would be less enjoyable, not more.
That being said, Marvel now encounters a challenge likely to face all ‘shared universes’ who follow their path, adapting existing works. The studio was up front about The Avengers: Age of Ultron NOT adapting the comic of the same name. The same went for Thor: Ragnarok and its source material. The most problematic being Captain America: Civil War, using the name of one of Marvel’s most politically-charged, and socially-relevant events… for a film not interested in telling that story at all. The implications of the title didn’t irritate everyone, but if nothing else, the practice erodes the already spotty link between the biggest superhero movies today and the comics they’re supposed to be based on.

If Infinity War is the culmination of the MCU so far, then that‘s the universe the story should worry about first. Where the Marvel Cinematic Universe goes from here – and whether fans should even read the comics to prepare – remains to be seen.

'Avengers: Infinity War': 7 Possible Characters That Would Surprise Us

Avengers: Infinity War is coming to theaters in just over one month's time, and the movie is set to be packed with nearly every character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe along with some new additions from the comics.
Still, even with all of these confirmed characters, many fans are still wondering what surprises could be in store. We know that this movie is an event for Marvel, and it's not going to pass without a couple of unexpected moments.

Specifically, there is certainly a chance that these fans are correct, and that there will be appearances in Infinity War that no one sees coming.
So, who could possibly show up in the movie that people aren't ready for? We've got a few ideas.

SLIDE 1/7 – PHIL COULSON Those involved with the MCU have made it abundantly clear that the television characters aren't going to show up in the final two Avengers movies. Period.
We understand that this is the case, but Phil Coulson has to be the sole exception, right?

Remember, long before he began leading the Agents of SHIELD series on ABC, Coulson was a staple of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The character, played by Clark Gregg, was the SHIELD agent who appeared in Iron Man, Iron Man 2, and Thor before meeting an untimely end at the hands of Loki in The Avengers.
His death was the event that really unified the Avengers in the film. Agents of SHIELD later revealed that he had been brought back to life, but none of the characters from the movie, save for Nick Fury, know that he's not actually dead.
An appearance from Coulson on Infinity War could be the boost that the original Avengers need to get themselves on the right track and lead the charge against Thanos.

SLIDE 2/7 – RED SKULL(Photo: Marvel Entertainment) If there is one villain from the MCU that fans would like to see return in Infinity War, it's the Red Skull, played by Hugo Weaving.
Not only was the villain from Captain America: The First Avenger one of the more dangerous bad guys in the history of the franchise, but audiences are still confused by his "death" that took place at the end of the movie. Many believed that he didn't actually die from his interaction with the Tesseract.

Marvel recently put out an Infinity War prequel comic that outlined where every single Infinity Stone was in the MCU. When it told the story of the Space Stone, it looked as though Red Skull was actually transported up into space, not destroyed by the Stone's power. This has led readers to believe that Marvel is hinting towards the Red Skull being alive after all.
Let's be honest: if Thanos is gathering together some extra villains for his war against the universe, Red Skull wouldn't be the worst ally to have at his side.

SLIDE 3/7 – LADY DEATH(Photo: Marvel Entertainment) Infinity War is going to be putting Thanos at center stage, giving the ultimate villain a lot of backstory to help show fans how he became the evil force that we've seen building in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
We know that this comes with the destruction of Titan, Thanos' home world. But it could also include the entity that Thanos desires more than everything else.

In the comics, Lady Death is who Thanos is always craving to please. It's her destructive nature that often leads him to kill everything in its path. To many fans, the two characters really go hand-in-hand.
If Thanos is truly at the center of this movie, Lady Death should be right there beside him, pulling the strings of a big, purple puppet.

SLIDE 4/7 – PIP THE TROLL(Photo: Marvel Entertainment) A lot has been said about Pip the Troll leading up to Avengers: Infinity War, but could the character actually surprise us with an appearance?

In the original Infinity Gauntlet comics, Pip is a key figure in the events taking place out in space. He works closely with Gamora to bring Adam Warlock into the fray, and even pairs up with Doctor Strange for a spell.
We've been told, time and again, that Adam Warlock isn't in Avengers: Infinity War, but both Gamora and Doctor Strange are heavily involved in the events of the film. Maybe Pip could work with them in some capacity, filling the whole left in fans wishing Warlock would've found a way to appear.

SLIDE 5/7 – NOVA When Nova eventually appears in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, you would expect the casting of the character to be a pretty big deal. This kind of news would be difficult for Marvel to keep locked down.
Still, there is certainly a way for Richard Rider to find his way to Infinity War.

Let's remember, Thanos gets the Power Stone in this movie. The trailer has already revealed that the purple Infinity Stone is nestled tightly in his gauntlet. This means that he has already paid Xandar a visit, and likely destroyed the entire Nova Corps.
Richard Rider, known best as simply Nova, is the last surviving member of the once great Nova Corps. The destruction of the planet at the hands of Thanos provides the perfect introduction for the character, even if it's just in the form of a small cameo.

SLIDE 6/7 – GROOT Yes, Groot has never exactly left the MCU, and the adolescent version of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2's Baby Groot is already confirmed to have a role in Infinity War.
But I'm talking about grown-up Groot here. I'm talking about the Groot that could take out armies on his own.

Groot can obviously grow and get bigger over time. However, on more than one occasion (most recently in Infinity Countdown #1), Marvel has shown that certain devices can cause Groot to grow at an exponential rate, bringing back his power and size in a matter of moments.
With all of the technology involved in this movie, and the inclusion of the powerful Infinity Stones, it wouldn't be a stretch to see the fully developed version of Groot back alongside the rest of the Guardians. After all, the Avengers could really use his strength in this war if they can find a way to unlock it.

SLIDE 7/7 – THANE While the appearances of all of these other characters may be a little surprising, this is the one that would truly shock Marvel fans.

Thane, the devastating son of Thanos, has a major role in Hickman's Infinity, which the movie is somewhat based on.
In Infinity War, the Black Order are said to be the children of Thanos, much like Gamora and Nebula. Wouldn't it make sense to include the actual, biological son of the Mad Titan?

'Avengers: Infinity War' Is Two To Three Years After 'Captain America: Civil War' According To Scarlett Johansson

We knew that some time had passed between Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War, but we didn't realize just how much time had passed.
Black Widow actress Scarlett Johansson cleared that up though in a new interview with ET, and it seems there's been at least 2 to 3 years of time since Captain America's team went rogue.

"When we last saw these characters in Civil War it's been probably 2 or 3 years that have passed, and our characters have been kind of part of some sort of counter-terrorism unit efforts but we're flying under the radar, and you know it's a lot I think when you are on these kinds of missions with no governmental support. You don't even have the support of just the general public, and you're sort of running rogue, trying to do what you know is best for the common man but you don't have someone to guide you or support you."
We're kind of fractured ourselves, and then, of course, the last we saw Hulk he was floating into the stratosphere. Now we are reintroduced to this whole expanded universe. There's been a lot of change that's gone on since the original Avengers assembled."

Speaking of Hulk, the last time these two were around each other there were the threads of a romance, but it seems that is destined for a less than happy ending according to Johansson.
“I just finished Avengers: Infinity War. The first one," Johansson said. "My character has this ongoing relationship with Mark Ruffalo's character. I had such devastation that day. I don't know why. I was so devastated. It was something about this character that Mark plays, and this is something that should feel so solid and suddenly doesn't or there's... And it reminded me of so much of the things going on in my own life at the time…”

New 'Avengers: Infinity War' Behind-The-Scenes Photos

Marvel Studios and Disney have provided ComicBook.com with two new behind-the-scenes photos from Avengers: Infinity War.
In March of 2017, ComicBook.com visited the set of the ensemble film being referred to as the culmination of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. As much of the film's story was kept very secretive in an effort to preserve its spoilers, the Russo Brothers opened up about helming the massive project with a slew of characters from all corners of the cinematic world. As seen in the photos below, it will be a globetrotting adventure, with locations ranging from Africa's Wakanda to European nations.

Below, Joe and Anthony Russo coach Chris Evans as Captain America in what is sure to be an action sequence involving he character, his new Wakandan gauntlets made by Black Panther's sister Shuri, and some of Thanos' minions (if not Thanos himself). Check it out!
Then, there is the new photo of Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow working with the sibling directors.

To the untrained eye, this might seem to be just another day on set of the Marvel Studios film. To ComicBook.com reader eyes who have previously dabbled with Jonathan Hickman's Infinity comic from 2012, though, there is more to the photo below. In its top right corner, both Corvus Glaive and Proxima Midnight's scepters are spotted which is likely an indication of a showdown with Thanos' Black Order in this location.
Check out the photo below!

"Everything's always got to be character-based," Joe Russo said. "We know we can't, if we're sitting in the edit room, watch a sequence for more than 20 seconds, without a character having a point of view, or moving the action forward. My brain just shuts down, and I start thinking about my laundry. The action, for us, it's always character-based."
"You have to shoot every one of them," Anthony Russo adds. "They're all special. They're all special characters."
Avengers: Infinity War hits theaters on April 27, 2018. If you have any questions about ComicBook.com's time on set of Avengers: Infinity War, leave them in the comment section below or send them to @BrandonDavisBD on Twitter!
